I'd actually see them NOT doing BC so they can squeeze more money out of PS Now by adding PS4 games to it. Gotta get use out of that Cloud purchase somehow

Not really surprised by this news. From what I remember reading PS4 and X1 were much more like PC's than in previous generations. It only makes that like PC's they are able to play previous gen games without much work. One of the main benefits of PC gaming is Backwards compatibility. Hell my gaming PC might as well be called a relive Mass Effect machine. Which I need to do about every two years.

Yes, i know that. I was referring to PS3 - PS4 BC.
Hunting Season is done...
With x86, there’s no reason not to. Sony has several excuses for not implementing PS3 BC into PS4; not doing PS4 into PS5 would be straight anti-consumerism because at that point there would be no explanation other than to try and sell services like PS Now. I sincerely hope itself because PS4 BC could easily be Sony’s next drop the mic moment, especially if they announce that later PS4 titles will be FC and offer enchanted performance. They’d literally launch PS5 with thousands of titles right off the bat.

They can still make a lot of money off of Now by continuing it on PS4 and PC, while bringing it back to other other non-PS devices.

That's a perfect way to kill the MAU. It would be in Sony's best interest to keep as many of their active users as possible in their Playstation ecosystem. BC helps with that because it allows the consumers to transfer their libraries from the PS4 to PS5. This is especially true when digital sales have greatly increased over the course of this generation. Sony will lose a lot of goodwill if consumers find out that all the money they poured into buying PS4 software is useless on the PS5.

Yeah I just feel they'll just use the ''PS4 games on PS Now'' excuse for BC. Who knows though, we'll see

I really hope not considering how slow PS Now is expanding. They bought it like 7 years ago and it's only available in about 10 countries so far. Also the fact that they decided to limit what devices it was available on it just seems like Sony can't get the technology working properly.
PS5 with backward compatibility will be a monster. They have a lot games from every major console they had release. Combine with first party exclusives and 3rd party exclusives will be even harder for their competitor to tackle their library.

Backwards compatibility on the PS5 is a MUST and considering the amount of amazing games on PS4, Sony would be insane not to implement BC on the PS5.
Also I don't expect too many Remasters if BC is implemented. Exception made of older games like PS3 games maybe.
