3m week in but also remember the drop rate second and third week was really good. Probably averaged around 40% worldwide which would mean another 1.8m in second week and the week after was similar. Let's say another 900k and we have 5.7m in 3 weeks. I think the game is around 6.5m by now. By the end of the summer I guess 8m could be possible and by the end of the year 10m?

I agree with the ballpark of your estimations.

I was just answering to the 5M WW on April, since GoW launched end of month I think it didn't do much over 3M on April. But I could be wrong and won't check how many weekend it had on April (if it had 2, then 5M is possible).

It sold 3.1 million in by 22nd of April (launched 20th). It then had another 8 days of high momentum sales for the month. It likely got well over 4 million at least.

It beat even San Andreas? :O Now that is impressive!

San Andreas released on October 26th 2004, so it had five or six days of tracking. Also, since some time NPD emphasizes revenue over unit sales, so if the same metric is used in this comparison, God of War holds an obvious advantage due to the higher game price today than back then, plus the existence of various special editions which wasn't a common practice over a decade ago.

San Andreas sold 5.1m copies in the USA in 2004, but I couldn't find sales for the individual months of October, November and December. That's why it's unclear if the metric is revenue or unit sales in this comparison.

Both games were sold at full price.

Wasn't in 3 days? But anyway, considering the drop that were seem in UK and I think Japan, it's possible that it neared 5M on April's end.

Impressive, I wish we had actual numbers provided by then though.

I'd rather have WW numbers from Sony.

Why not both?

God of war is one of the best games of our generation and it's turning into a humongous success for Sony Monica.

Yeah just some sort of numbers would be great, we know it sold 3m in its first week, but would be great to get another update... although if it's still selling so well, maybe Sony will say something about it at E3, which, if it does happen, will be the next time we hear anything about sales, lol :P One thing is for sure though, lifetime sales will be higher than the majority of people predicted... those 10m+ predictions don't seem too high now, do they :p

Nope, game have a very good shot on the 8-10M and could even go higher, just don't think 15M high as some are already expecting.
