Now that the Vita has sold 88 units in N. America alone, it will now go back in time and set things right.

I really like my Vita. Really wish it did better in sales because the thing is advanced for its time and has really great features.

Good one.

Besides xbox, ninty and def sony is doing so much better.

Nintendo doesn't really matter in this regard, because the Switch is a year old. However, it is interesting to not only see how the previous PlayStation and Xbox machines were doing, but just how much faster the PS3 sold in the same time frame as the 360.

The detail of aligned launches is one that X360 defenders during the time never accepted (nor did they accept that even talking sales on the year, which PS3 only lost once)... all that mattered was the LTD, until at the very end PS3 passed.

PS Vita more than doubled by the Xbox One in Japan compared to Vita's NA numbers, great work Xbox!

Updated numbers in OP.

For a fun comparison, we'll look at the 3 last gen console's 5th year. So, May 8, 2010 (360) and May 7, 2011 (PS3/Wii)

X360 109,235 (+3%) 40,240,120
PS3 154,130 (-6%) 50,687,042
Wii 106,716 (-12%) 84,974,603

Wasn’t the 5th or 6th year the 360/ps3s peak year?

Maybe Donkey Kong gave Switch a boost

I doubt a remaster of a donkey kong game would put ti ahead of the ps4 that just had GoW4 release. Not hating on DK but i just dont think its that big of a system mover.

This doesn't relate specifically to May 5 sales, but I did go to Best Buy to pick-up "Battle Chasers:  Nightwar" for my Switch this past Friday.  When the Best Buy salesperson brought my game to the register he remarked "Wow, it's been insanely busy for Switch in here this week."  He specifically mentioned Donkey Kong and Hyrule Warriors by name in terms of the increased traffic he was seeing.

If Sony is cutting PSVita then MS should do it for X1 =p

NPD results showed VGC was overtracked the switch, so the sales were adjusted down.

PS4 is already ubiquitous and NSW has still Smash and Pokemon on it's lineup. I guess we can say that NSW has everything to take the #1 in the next 12 months.

Sony rolling out PS5 before 2020 doesn't look so bonkers now.

Just out of curiosity.....are you saying that the NSW will take #1 in NPD for the next 12 months straight?
