The fact that they are unhappy about its current projected release date (assuming the article is true of course) could be further indication that they will release the game as episodes.

Better to delay a game that could potentially end up being amazing than to rush a game that can be terrible, so I hope Nomura don't listen to these individuals complaining about release dates.

Anyways, they've said it many times already, the 3 part game is going to be like the FFXIII Trilogy.

I really don't have any problem with the release date. My problem is with the anouncement date. I'm super hyped for this remake and I want to play it quickly as possible but seriosly, if the damn thing is going to take years and years to make why anounce it so early?? That's the thing that infuriates me and SE loves to do that (hello KH3 and FFXV). They should had anounced this game months before part 1 release, imo.

I think Square Enix have demonstrated that they have no fucking clue how to modernise an open world FF, nor properly manage their projects.

so TL;DR

they stripped the game from the original dev team 2 years into development and scrapped all their work, basically starting from scratch in 2016. Nomura is also barely present since he is split 3 ways with directing Osaka, KH3, and FF7 all at once.

we likely wont see an official update until 2020 at the soonest

I'm assuming that means the 3rd episode will release by 2023. The first episode is probably aiming for 2019, the 2nd for 2021, and the 3rd for 2023, so 2 year gap between episodes. Honestly that wouldn't surprise me at all, but I do hope they can push that down to a 1 year gap between episodes, or at most 1.5 years between episodes.

I have also read that article, and I'm afraid that you've misread it. It implied that the FIRST episode would land in 2023 - not the last episode.

When Square Enix moved the production of FF7R in-house from CyberConnect in May 2017, they also scrapped all of CyberConnects progress and started from scratch - which was 3 yrs worth or production. (CyberConnect started developing FF7 Remake in 2014, we got their cinematic and gameplay trailer in 2015)

So basically, there's only been about a year of development for FF7 Remake. There's absolutely NO FUCKING WAY it'll release in 2019.

I wasn't talking about sales, FF used to be the first to expand the RPG experience, not only RPGs, during the PS1 days it was one of the leading game series, right now the game is so limited with budgets and even the people who work on the title aren't as good as they used to be, big names have left with not enough talents to replace them, what I get right now when I play FF game is a good game but not a wow what a hell of a game that was

Besides you being older and having experienced a lot an thus making it harder to surprise you, gaming in general have improved so much that even top games don't get that much wow over orhers.

But you should have been clearer at first, and also you didn't say what have gotten their leadership.

Not one in particular, I've been enjoying Elder scroll, Fallout, Xenoblade, & Fire emblem I also like Dragon quest from SE, If there has to be a replacement then I think Bethesda got the majority of my time

Maybe experiencing the old games at their time makes a difference but that's my point, FF13, & FF15 have their moments but somehow they feel incomplete, SE loses of FF talents is the major factor I guess, but I don't think it's the only thing, I believe that the company is unwilling to take major risks and huge investments and we can see that clearly in all their titles

Um, Pokemon?

Well I don't really think Pokemon is similar to what we usually consider JRPG... but if we were to consider Pokemon a JRPG then FF losing the lead would be something that happened almost since Pokemon released and not something of a new occurence as was the point from that person.

Want it or not, Pokemon/Digimon/Monster Hunter Stories/Yokai Watch/World of Final Fantasy are JRPG
