I cannot click on the icon on the top right to log in. I can only login once in the forums.

Terrible work around for that I found months back, basically hold your finger on it for long enough that the in built browser drop down menu appears, now click the back arrow on your phone and it should leave the drop down list showing on the site under where your icon would go, you can now click where it says to login.

That's necessary for the OLD header - but should NOT be necessary for this new one. I touch it once, it drops down and stays down (the way it's supposed to)...

Not on mobile

What do you mean you can't click on it? Does it not react? Can you not get into the user/pass form? Details...???

No, it does not react. Neither the icon on the top right or the menu icon on the top left. So, I cannot log in from the home page as nothing happens. I’m on an iPhone. Once logged in, the icon still doesn’t work but the menu and chart buddy do.

Nothing against the layout of this site per se, just that those "mobile friendly" layouts never worked for me in general. When you're on a computer, it was already big enough as it was, now it's just too big and bulky. But hey, that's the norm by now.

There was a recent trend of web developers creating mobile ready websites that worked in browsers but ended up looking like just a big mobile version, instead of just making responsive website design. Luckily the industry is moving away from that and actually using responsive website design instead. Scaling websites based on browser with.

The same is being done here, just needs ironing out as Talon said.

Hmm, pie.

I tried that and it's still the same? Are you on discord. I could send you a few screenshots. Or maybe it's meant to be the way I'm seeing, it's really skinny with everything underneath each other.

If you're on mobile - then yes, that's how responsive design works (multi-columns are collapsed into one long column).

I'm on Discord, so yeah you can send them to me there...

Can you send me an invite link to add you?

is that considered fine? Close ad button doesn't trigger the "which of these did you mean to click" it just opens the advert.

@TalonMan @TruckOSaurus I think a nice QoL change would be to make the main headers clickable too, like having "Forum" go to the forums, "Game DB" go to the game database, and so on.

So - I briefly looked into this, and it's by design that, say when you click "Forum" it doesn't take you directly to the Forums page. If you look at the site on a mobile device, that menu displays as a drop-down tree that you can navigate to the various stuff. So, if I were to hyperlink the "Forums" button - you wouldn't be able to navigate the menu anymore. As soon as you clicked it, you would be taken directly to the forums...  :(

...will have to put some "if mobile" logic around those buttons, I guess. Ugh.

Hmm, I guess that's true for mobile, but on PC it's a hover drop-down, which makes it a bit jarring.

For the people asking for a different order, when the project got started and I got Brett's approval, it was very clear that it was to be numbers first, then articles then the forums so that part is pretty much set in stone.

I guess customization could be implemented down the line for logged in members to decide the order of sections but for the non-members it will stay this way.

Thank you for making the advertisements far less intrusive. That was always my biggest complaint about the site.

Well, that's why I said I'm gonna have to wrap some "if mobile" logic around those links...

** sigh **

...a Thundercat's work, is never done. :(

That goes against what a responsive website is supposed to be though. It adapts to the width so even if you open it up full screen on your PC and then shrink it to 240px the layout will follow. If we put something to change behavior according to the initial resolution then opening the page big to then go small won't work as intended anymore.
