Forums - Gaming Discussion - xenosaga remaster possible?

omg!!

Bandai Namco has trademarked “Also Sprach Zarathustra” in the United States.

“Also Sprach Zarathustra” is the subtitle of Xenosaga Episode III, which released for PlayStation 2 in 2006.

There have not been any recent developments in the Xenosaga series. However, this trademark might indicate Bandai Namco is considering remastering the trilogy.

I wouldn't be shocked if a remaster happened on Switch

We recently got KOS-MOS as a blade in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, could that of been a precursor to a remaster happening?

What kind of stupid as subtitle is that?

Who will fund it?, we asked Mr Harada on twitter to bring an HD remaster to the trilogy on PS3/ Xbox 360, he did encourage us if he gets enough backing, but then he simply said he is sorry but there wasn't enough interest
I really really want this to happen, I can only hope

It's gonna be a PS2 classic on PS4 at best, I think.

"Also Sprach Zarathustra" - so said Zarathustra - sometimes the American unfriendliness to many things foreign is amusing. IIRC the game deals with Nietzsche's work quite a bit, and that is where the subtitle comes from.

I've heard good things about the games, but “Also Sprach Zarathustra”? Not sure if I'd want to buy a game I can't even pronounce the name of

The entire trilogy has subtitles like that, and all of them are named after books by Friedrich Nietzsche (Der Wille zur Macht, Jenseits von Gut und Böse, and Also Sprach Zarathustra).

As far as the remaster is concerned, I'd get it if it ever releases in Europe. When the games were originally made the only one of the trilogy that was released in Europe was the second episode, so a remaster would be my first chance at playing the first and third games in the trilogy.

Hope they do all 3 then...

Did you play Xenosaga: Episode 2 without playing 1 & 3?
Epi 2 was sort of the black sheep of the saga. Namco started interfering with the development, and decided to cut content to save it for Epi 3. Fired one of the writers (Soraya Saga) who later wrote about what happened in her blog. The game was at that point supposed to be a series of 6 games. But due to Episode 2 underperforming (partially thanks to Namco) they decided to wrap things up in the third game.
In spite of that, I felt it was still a significantly better game than Epi 2, so if you enjoyed it, hopefully you'll love Epi 3.

Yeah, I've only played episode 2. It was the only one that was ever released in Europe. The game came with a DVD that contained the first game's cutscenes as one continuous movie, so I knew the story up to the second game, but then the third one was also never released in Europe.
