game will be down to 94 when Edge's 8 gets added. with some other lower reviews still likely to come, it might 'only' end up on 93 rather than the 95 we hoped for

It’ll be okay.

ok? i'm not fussed i was just saying

The only thing i hate about this kind of hype is the slight let down i get when i finally play the game. It's an amazing game but it's not a 10 to me, not gameplay wise at least. Maybe the story will be amazing. Sony first party are killing it, but the actual game mechanics are always a tier below the best in their respective genre. That said the narrative is usually a tier or two above other games, so it is what it is.

Like many of you said edge would score an 8. You were right. The 96 dream is dead but there's still a small chance it hits 95. At least it should go below 94. Incredible reviews for an incredible game.

Which games are in the same genre as GoW, and a tier above it for gameplay?

It deserves the praise. It's absolutey brilliant albeit a few issues here and there no more than most other releases.  stunningly gun game, stunning looking? very addicting, phenomenal score and sound and looks above all else. The minor issues aren't anything that cant be fixed with a patch. However I come from a place of no hype til the scores started landing, wasn't expecting anything at all here and got an absolute gem.

One thing I fear is something is rotten in denmark for the OG versions, my mates says shes getting overheating warnings on her fairly new slim, my OG sounds like a chainsaw going into mad stutters everynow and again and another mate is getting disc errors and crashes for the game alone. Can't find anyone complaining online so might just be a freak coincidence. Asked a few people on my PSN who have PRO and they have no problems. Hope this isn't an actual thing they fucked up on and is just coincidence.

I have thus far been quite lucky. My console has been quiet as can be and isn't any warmer than when I play any other games. It's a 2013 launch console, too, so it's not like I'm playing on a slim or on a pro.

I am having some troubles adapting to Kratos' relatively sluggish combat and I've yet to find out how to sprint/run, but other than that it's great. Was absolutely glued to my screen up until 'the stranger'. (Not a spoiler, but those who have played it know what I'm talking about).

RPG elements are grand, the writing thus far has been great, the performance is top notch, and it's a lot of fun.

My mail lady was confused though. I live in townhouses, and when she got to me, she said, "Why are you so excited for a game? The last four deliveries were all games, too, and they were all young men, and they were equally as joyed as you." So apparently she had delivered a bunch of copies of God of War today and made a lot of men and one woman's day!

Heroes don't always use capes, sometimes they deliver mail.

Would love more info.

I held off on buying this week 1, due to money issues. But depending on what I have seen and a few opinions I may wait a bit longer for price cuts. Always been a bit iffy on it ever since everyone on Metacritic has been hyping it, as I generally disagree with extremely high praise that reviewers give to games.

Some moments are great, other moments are good and some moments are dull or irritating. It's too inconsistent to be legitimately called a masterpiece. The map is next to useless and almost redundant other than it being useful (sometimes) for pointing you in the right direction. That is literally all it's good for. It's of no use whatsoever for navigating through different terrain. I find a lot of the puzzles just irritating and not actually fun to do. I feel as if I'm forcing my self to do a lot of them just to get 100% completion of a level. Some you can't avoid though, which is why I'm typing now and not playing. I can only stand so much before I turn a game off for a breather. I'm not in any way drawn in by the game in the same way I get drawn in by other games and I'm tending to play for shorter periods of time than normal. Remember I'm 60 though, and some of this could just be down to my slower reflexes. I've turned the game down to it's lowest difficulty because of it annoying me. Just for perspective, I completed Bloodborne. There was something about that game that made me keep coming back for more ... this game has't got that hook unless incredible vistas and spectacle is enough for you.

Old grubber....

All this time I thought my wife pre-ordered the game for me. Then I get home and what does she pull out for me?

Don't think link is working for me. Anyway it was the God of War Limited Edition Bundle. I am so not worthy

I had absolutely no idea.

I was surprised when I saw this picture. The Japanese bundle looks better IMO:

Definitely dropping to 94 now, if Gamecritics lowball it enough it can really drop to 93, not discarding a 92 right now, depending on QtT and some more harsh reviews, though I'm not counting on it, but 93 is looking like a strong possibility.

Why is it dropping to 94 exactly?
