I have thus far been quite lucky. My console has been quiet as can be and isn't any warmer than when I play any other games. It's a 2013 launch console, too, so it's not like I'm playing on a slim or on a pro. I am having some troubles adapting to Kratos' relatively sluggish combat and I've yet to find out how to sprint/run, but other than that it's great. Was absolutely glued to my screen up until 'the stranger'. (Not a spoiler, but those who have played it know what I'm talking about). RPG elements are grand, the writing thus far has been great, the performance is top notch, and it's a lot of fun. My mail lady was confused though. I live in townhouses, and when she got to me, she said, "Why are you so excited for a game? The last four deliveries were all games, too, and they were all young men, and they were equally as joyed as you." So apparently she had delivered a bunch of copies of God of War today and made a lot of men and one woman's day! |
Heroes don't always use capes, sometimes they deliver mail.

Some moments are great, other moments are good and some moments are dull or irritating. It's too inconsistent to be legitimately called a masterpiece. The map is next to useless and almost redundant other than it being useful (sometimes) for pointing you in the right direction. That is literally all it's good for. It's of no use whatsoever for navigating through different terrain. I find a lot of the puzzles just irritating and not actually fun to do. I feel as if I'm forcing my self to do a lot of them just to get 100% completion of a level. Some you can't avoid though, which is why I'm typing now and not playing. I can only stand so much before I turn a game off for a breather. I'm not in any way drawn in by the game in the same way I get drawn in by other games and I'm tending to play for shorter periods of time than normal. Remember I'm 60 though, and some of this could just be down to my slower reflexes. I've turned the game down to it's lowest difficulty because of it annoying me. Just for perspective, I completed Bloodborne. There was something about that game that made me keep coming back for more ... this game has't got that hook unless incredible vistas and spectacle is enough for you. |
