They also have better things to do then waste their time on PS4 games that take forever to develop and are expensive to make. I'm not suggesting they release Ni No Kuni 2 on Switch, I'm suggesting they should have used those resources for something like an ambitious Yokai Watch on Switch.

Level-5's biggest successes have all been on Nintendo consoles (Professor Layton, Yokai Watch).

That's changing ...

Professor Layton has been on a decline and so has Yokai Watch plus developing NNK2 for PS4 was worthwhile since it was the west that saved the series ...

The future isn't as clear as you make it out to be between Japanese developers and the Switch when we factor in how high production value releases by them have fared in the west also ...

Hyrule Warriors so low... I didn't even know it was out already!
Kirby did wonder... in the face of all those flop threads! million seller (WW) secured.

Switch over 50k (not bad), still stock issue or this is its baseline?

Baseline imo.

I think the baseline is actually closer to 45k, next week should confirm. The Kirby effect should be completely over by then. I am assuming no stock issues however.

Good hold for Kirby. Monster Hunter is down down down. Good hold also for Switch hardware. 50k would be good to go on weekly.

To use a popular game from Japan as an example. Do you know how much Splatoon 2 sold 2 months after it's release in Japan? 26k. How much did Monster Hunter World sell after 2 months in Japan? 13k. Wow, such an amazing difference!

Do you want to know how much Monster Hunter World sold first week in Japan? 1.3 Million. How much did Splatoon 2 sell? In the 600k. Even if we include week 2 of Splatoon 2's sales, Splatoon 2 only sold about 750k for two weeks. That is a massive difference.

Games that come out with stronger upfront sales tend to have "worse" legs than games that rely on a gradual increase in buyers.

Just few points, Splatoon 2 would had much better launch if it had bigger install base, and MHW launch would have much lower sales if it would have lower install base. Also Switch had big stock problems two monts after Splatoon 2 launch in Japan, so sales of Splatoon 2 were limited in that time. In other words, Splatoon2/MHW comparison is pointless, any comparison that would make sense is LT sales.

You don't have to write a comment if everything you said was echoed and explained much earlier on, you know.

[Also looking back at it there is obviously a lot wrong with this line of reasoning, but this discussion has gotten boring]

What's your point? Dragon Quest XI sold poorly on the PS4 and has no legs.

Nothing is changing, see my post above. Ni No Kuni didn't even sell all that well on the PS3, so not sure why you think that will change anything.

Most Japanese third party games do (relatively) poorly on the PS4, MHW is the major exception (and even that game didn't help the baseline of the PS4 at all).

I don't know you mentioned it takes forever to develop for the PS4. I showed you a perfect example of Switch game taking forever to be released.

As for NNK 2 context matter. You cannot call it wasted resources when NNK 1 sold well in the west that green Lighted the sequel. You cannot base the sale of NNK2 in Japan when Level-5 even hesitated in releasing it in Japan in the first place. It's not wasted resources for Level-5 when BandaiNamco paid for NNK 2 to happen.
It's a little bit premature that NNK2 sold bad if we still don't know how it did in the west.

For the link. Yeah cool more games for the Switch.

It hasn't even been released in the west yet, anyway, it wasn't his point

His point is that Ni no Kuni II was only made because of how well the first sold in the West. So the second game coming out on PS4 shouldn't be a surprise.

Dragon Quest XI sold poorly on PS4? By poorly, you mean ahead of every person's expectations?
