Smash, release date for Octopath and Mario Tennis basically carried this direct. The third party games were certainly surprises, but they are ports, not new games. And man, I really wanted to hear about FE.

Is "no more heroes, Travis strikes again" a port or have Nintendo purchased Marvelous / Grasshopper Manufacture?

As someone who skipped the Wii U I am loving these ports with portable functionality. I understand others not as excited, but been so long since had long Smash sessions.

Doesn't really make them ports tbh as they're recent releases that would make them more multiplatform titles it would be like calling the Wii U version of Watch Dogs a port because it release a few months later, Crash for one releases the same day as the X1 version.

Okay now I'm confused XD. @ bold, so, the wii u one is not a port?

That was the reason of my original question.  Most people see ports as a bad thing, plus labeling for example the fracture but whole a game that came 5 months ago the same way you label Tropical freeze which is a 4 year old game doesn't seems fair to me.

Given that this thread is "give your opinion" I'm fine with opinion, but at least if you're going to give an opinion make it based on the topic at hand.

I'm not sure how often people review movies on imdb after not seeing the film.

When you think that the trailer was just 30 mins long... and it contained more release information than your average consoles E3 showing, blown away.

Only thing a bit sad about it was with South Park, they had no mention of the Stick of Truth, not sure why they wouldn't include the first game if they're doing the work to port the engine to the Switch, surely the first game would run just as easily if not easier.

Games being bought from this Direct

- Splatoon dlc

- Captain Toad

- Okami (yet again)

- South Park (if priced correctly)

- Crash trilogy (day 1)

- Smash brothers (unless hell freezes over)

Remember last Playstation E3 conference where everyone was dissapointed because they showed the same games they showed on previous events ... well, that's how I felt about this direct with the difference Sony was showing new games not ports.

I'll give points to Nintedo becaused they had a very good pace, but, as someone who isn't interested on smash, tennis or splatoon there was nothing new appeling to me.

I was expecting something about Bayo 3

This was a 6 out of 10 for me

You and others need to realize what Directs are for, they are primarily used to highlight what is coming in the next few months. Release dates & new info on known titles with a handful of new releases.

We got release dates for Hyrule Warriors, Mario Tennis & Octopath Traveler.

First gameplay of Dark Souls Remastered & Travis Strikes Back.

South Park, Undertale, Little Nightmares, Okami, Crash, Sushi Striker, Captain Toad, Splatoon DLC & Smash Bros were not previously known to be coming to Switch.

Its not the same thing at all to Sony's E3 which is showing games that are ~2 years out.

Need concrete information if the Smash announcement was for an actual new game or not. That's enough to swing it 3-4 points at least. Without that, the only game I cared about was Octopath Traveler and I will be getting that LE.

I think the safest guess for Smash is that it falls somewhere in between port and brand new title.

Basically, it will reusue the engine/assets of the Wii U version but add in a bunch of new stages, characters and features.

Ports ports ports and more ports.
Only one new game announced.... for the 3ds
Porting rhe latest Smash is ok I guess but....it also means that we wont be seeing a new Smash for the Switch
That was the most dissapoiting Nintendo Direct ever, to me.

The Wii U stuff are ports, others like Crash, South park etc I would class as multiplat titles as they are current gen.
