I'd rather it go to someone else besides Ubisoft or Activision. I want to see a good Star Wars game from someone, rather than another CoD or Far Cry clone.

Well what do you suggest that Disney should do with the license ?

Ruin it further.

That would cost money and be a big risk though. Either you're spending big attracting top industry talent and hoping they can work together to make a great game... or you're hiring mostly newer people and hoping they don't fuck it up (wasn't it mostly new staff that fucked up Mass Effect Andromeda? So there's clearly a big risk with that approach).

Edit: I guess there's also the example of 343 Industries who were set up to make exclusively Halo games. They've got a lot of criticism for their games and none so far have lived up to the example set by the already established Bungie. And they already had games to work from and base their new ones on. Studios usually take a little while to get up to a decent level of quality, which would be even more difficult since they'd have no previous games to work from and would be starting from scratch.

Big risk ? We're talking about Star Wars mate. It's destined to sell big with it's demographic even if it ends up being a crappy product like SWB2.

Well, a deal with one of the most experienced and qualified publishers in the gaming bussiness seemed like a very safe deal too, and look at what happened. And besides, Disney doesn't care about videogames. If they wanted, they could become one of the biggest names in the industry, just out of IPs and licenses, but they don't.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I personally really like Ubisoft, so I’d be happy if they developed the Star Wars games.

Same here. Except that's I'd be pissed if they develop star war games. Ubi brings out new IP on a constant basis and doesn't shy away from trying something new. I don't want them wasting their talent and teams on shitty star wars games. I'd rather EA keeps it or Activision buy it.

Seeing that all major publishers are moving onto the the 'live services' gravy train, I doubt we will get a great single player star wars game any time soon.

Well, maybe Obsidian will finally get the chance to make KOTOR 3.

Initially, I stayed optimistic with EA as they would potentially be able to develop some great games. Both new games but also new entries in these series:

DICE: Battlefront
Bioware: Knights of the Old Republic
Visceral: Jedi Knight
Criterion: Podracer/Tie Fighter/Rogue Squadron
Respawn Entertainment: Republic Commando
Petroglyph Games: Empire at War

Here we are 5 years later and EA has only managed to put out 2 lacking Battlefront games. Therefore, I'll be quite pleased if Disney ends up licensing games individually.

So is it the same people working there or just the one guy?

Hopefully EA doesn´t get to make any starwars games ever again, individual licencing would be best.
