Forums - Nintendo Discussion - US: Switch has sold more consoles than any other platform in history on a time-aligned basis

Funnily enough, this makes you even more wrong than I first thought. Your initial response to zorg, saying that Nintendo can't announce something that isn't true, is incorrect if you were just talking about home consoles, because zorg specifically said "THEIR" fastest-selling console, i.e. Nintendo's fastest-selling console, for which Switch is easily in first place as of ten months.

Either your initial post included handhelds and your subsequent post about PS2 being in first place is wrong, or your initial post excluded handhelds and was thus wrong on its own. Of course, the second post is still wrong regardless, because companies don't get to magically allign their regional launches to claim the title of "fastest-selling worldwide".

When that is done on purpose we call it a strawman.

They have 2 platforms, Switch and 3DS.

I doubt the 3DS will still be around in five years.

I mean now.
Maybe in 5 years they have the switch and another handheld.

The support for the 3DS is already pretty weak right now, and it will only get weaker in the next few years. Since the Switch will most likely get all the 3DS franchises, there's no point in making another handheld. They'll probably release a cheaper handheld version of the Switch.

They'll just iterate on the Switch.

Current Switch will eventually be moved to be aimed at the low market kids audience the way the 3DS is now.

A new Switch with higher end specs/capability/screen quality will be introduced to take over the role of the higher end product.

It's basically all laid out nicely before Nintendo, Nvidia probably even already has the chip/silicon for the next gen Switch more or less ready for Nintendo to prototype already. The Tegra Xavier (basically what the Tegra X3 would be based on) will start sampling this year, so Nintendo's R&D will have access to the chips likely very soon if they don't already.

Not going to happen.

I can see that happening.
But you never know, maybe Nintendo launches another handheld.

No way Nintendo will release another different handheld alongside Switch, one of main point of Switch is that's unified Nintendo platform, so onother handheld is only possible like part of Switch platform.
