Mario Maker Sequel?

Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Mario Maker Sequel?

To not make a sequel to Super Mario Maker for Switch would pretty much be a cardinal sin.

Like every great sequel Super Mario Maker 2 should have more to offer us, the players, so that we can go even further than in the first game.

What I want in a second Super Mario Maker:

-Chargin Chuck

-Monty Mole

-Rip Van Fish

-Boom Boom

-The Koopalings

-Reznor

-Birdo

-Banzai Bill

-King Bill

-Big Boo

-Boohemoth

-3D World Mode

What would you like to see in a Super Mario Maker sequel? :)

I'd be happy for a mere port at this point. There are so many cool Mario Maker levels out there that really should be made available to Switch owners. Why Nintendo didn't release a Switch version right after launch is beyond me.

A sequel with an added 3D World mode would be pretty cool.

I really want an added 3D World mode.

And better yet, even though it'd take up a lot of memory, the ability to make your own world maps to put your levels into! :D

I expect a Mario Maker Deluxe or whatever they want to call it.

As long as it has lots of new elements added to it.

the answer of why they didn't immediately release a port is probably a couple of reasons. One, you don't want to oversaturate your system with 'Mario' games and help enforce a false (semi popular) narrative that Nintendo only releases colorful platformer games. B, Nintendo wants to spread out their releases. No point in rushing out all of the easy ports to the first 12 or 16 months and then having few easy options later on. And, C, it's highly possible Nintendo will be working on a sequel that employs the Joycons/Switch functionality uniquely. Obviously a direct port of Wii U Mario Maker might be a bit awkward given that it was one of the few Wii U games heavy on employing the Gamepad.

I'm personally hoping for the latter option, a sequel of sorts. Like a 1/2 sequel, Splatoon 2 sort of thing. Not a massively changed game, but just added features and visuals possibly

On top of the multiplyer aspect of it of creating and sharing levels, I would like an original fUll fledged 2D adventure that uses a new artstyle. So in another words, a strong single player and multiplayer in one package.

If they make a Super Mario Maker sequel (which I hope they will do) I do hope that they bring with it a brand new art-style (and one that is gorgeous of course). The New Super Mario Bros. art-style is ugly as hell.

Slopes. It needs slopes.

Love and tolerate.

Before Mario Maker 2 I want a New Super Mario World with cartoonized graphics.
