Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox's lack of compelling games won't be fixed in 2018 [Endgadget]

Lets keep this simple. Explain to me that what I claimed as "Not everyone wants to game on PC" is a fallacy?

I already know its a true statement because the entire world doesn't want to game on PC, so why would I back down on it? If you can prove me otherwise I will happen to withdraw my statement and admit I was wrong. However the debates happening in here is simple as "No one will buy an Xbox when they can buy a PC" argument is a poor one especially when "Not everyone wants to game on PC" exists as a real thing.

I just did explain it.
You asserted that those who don't wish to game on PC will gravitate towards Console.
That's false.

You have this thing called mobile, board games, pen and paper and so on.

I am not sure it is entirely possible for me to dumb down the explanation of that particular logical fallacy any more than I already have.

Azzanation said:

Its funny because I game 90% on PC however I know how far that argument goes because I tried to convince my mate to switch to PC years ago and he laughed and said no thanks, his happy with his consoles. I can guarantee you there are heaps more out there that will have the same preferences.

What you game on is ultimately irrelevant. And nor do I actually care what platform someone plays on, it's none of my business.

Snoopy said:

I agree that argument is stupid. 99% of console games are multiplatform and on PC. Most games people buy on console can be found on PC. Yet people still buy consoles because it is cheaper, more convenient, easier to use, ect.

Except. PC is a larger market than any singular console platform.
And just because people are happy to buy consoles, doesn't mean people are unhappy with PC.
Lots of people are happy with the PC, it's superior performance and it's vastly larger game library... Even Metacritic paints the PC in a good light.

Aoe on a console? even on pc.... its been forever since I played a AOE and dont really miss it.
State of decay 2 looks old and generic compaired to days gone.
New Halo could be good, but is this confirmed for 2018?
New Forza Horizon 4, most likely comeing.
Fable 4.... heard good things, havnt played one, but again its just a rumor so far.

Its like 2 meh, 2 good, 2 rumors.
and the "good" are forza + halo like always.

What more can a man want?

Marvel's Spider-Man?
The Last of us Part II?
Days Gone?
God of War?
Deaths Stranding?
Detroit Become Human?
Yakuza 6?
ect.

These are personal opinions of course and isn't a reflection of everyone else.

Too bad that the PC community sucks ass. The majority of PC gamers are also egomaniacs who care more about the equipment that went inside their PC rather than the games it plays.

Way to paint absolutely everyone with the same brush, rendering your entire statement incorrect.
Whilst you do have people like myself who is a PC enthusiast. - I find half the fun *is* the equipment that goes into our rigs... And you know what? That is perfectly okay.
When you spend months meticulously choosing the right barbs, piping, blocks for your loop and she fits perfectly? Nothing like it.

Besides, console gamers can't speak. The amount of arguing over the Xbox One's hardware relative to the Playstation 4 proved that hardware is important to some gamers... And the Playstation 4 Pro and Xbox One X also exists to cater to those demographics on console.

What's funny is the notion that somehow there is a belief that consoles have overtaken PC as the preferred video game medium, yet recent studies done by the ESA shows anywhere between a 56-62% marketshare worldwide for PC vs 52-54% for console gaming (including handhelds). Even for esport, 4 of the top earning games are on PC only. Not only that, gaming revenue wise, PC gaming generated over 400% in revenue vs XB, PS, and Ninty combined. Sure closes that door on that " most gamers don't want to game on pc" notion being thrown around.

Which goes back to the OP.. with a lack of true exclusives, current and future-wise, there is nothing there on X1 that gives an incentive to pick one up.  If can play the same games elsewhere then why bother?

Even with most of Xbox exclusives being released on PC, a majority of them are only released for Win10 and in the Windows Store, which is a platform that most people dislike if compared to Steam, what makes most people choose to buy an exclusive MS game for the Xbox, if they have one. I mean, have you seen how many people buy games like Forza and Gears for the PC compared to the number of people that buy those games for the Xbox? The difference is absurd, it is obvious that people prefer playing games that were originally only Xbox exclusives (and now are MS exclusives, so they won't be out on other platforms) on the Xbox rather than on a PC.

Also, a powerful computer costs much more than an Xbox (at least where I live), and that makes people buy a console instead of a computer that can run most games. I myself am an example of that.

And you have to consider that some people just prefer gaming on a console, without any specific reasons for that, and you just can't argue against that.

Just to finish this post, you know that there are many other factors besides exclusive games that people consider before buying a console, right? I chose buying the Xbox personally because I think that the Xbox live is much better than the PSN, the exclusives came as a bonus. But maybe if I have enough money when the next generation arrives, I am pretty sure that I will buy the PS5 alongside the next Xbox.

I can't believe arguments being presented in this listwarz battle.

1. XBL Indie games that also happen to be on PC count as exclusives.

2. Niche Japanese titles don't count.

3. Any game that sold under 5 million worldwide is a niche title.

4. Xbox is better because you might be part of the minority of Xbox users that owns an X, meaning you can have ever so slightly better graphics than a PS4 Pro.

5. Multiplayer games with online updates (and lootboxes, & early access development & on disc DLC) are more important than all the niche games that PS4 gets.

6. Rare hasn't made a good game since the N64 days, but we should all be hyped for Sea of Thieves.

7. We should be hyped for State of Decay 2, a sequel to a game that got 72 on Metacritic.

8. A game's quality doesn't matter. Only it's sales. (This is ridiculous. Isn't the point of a listwar to point out which console has the most fun games?)

State of decay got a 78, not a 72.

Viva pinata and rare replay were solid games.

And it doesn't make a damn difference if game "Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings" is on the list or not. Unless you're talking about solely japan. This would be the same as including voodoo Vince remaster on the Xbox list.

That niche Japanese game wont make any headlines, push any consoles or create any hype outside of japan. Effectively the equivalent  of putting voodoo Vince on the list.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

A lot of PC sales, especially for Forza 7, came from the PC version. On top of that, you say some prefer to play on console. Some prefer to play on PC, by the same token.

Even if those games sell more on Xbox, it cannot be denied that having the option to play them on PC impacts sales.

Yeah, I know that some people prefer gaming on a PC, but I only said that some people prefer playing on consoles because that other dude was basically saying that there is no reason to buy an Xbox.  I'm not rhetorically asking for reasons to buy a gaming PC, like he was doing with the Xbox.

I never denied that the availability of games like Forza and Gears on PC impacts sales, but seeing that the absolut majority of people still prefer to buy them on the Xbox while having the option to purchase on a better platform shows that people do find their own reasons to buy an Xbox.

I'm not sure if in the other post you understood that I was trying to badmouth the PC or something like that, but no, in fact I also game on my computer a lot and enjoy it most of the time. I was actually trying to show the other dude that there are reasons to buy an xbox (although he seems to be ignoring all arguments that people use against his nonsense idea), just as there are reasons to buy a PC, a PS4, a Switch, etc.

I wouldn't say the graphics are "ever so slightly better" than the Playstation 4 Pro.
Some games are showing some marked increases in general fidelity.

However... It's also nothing that the PC hasn't had since forever, in many cases the Xbox One X is still a downgrade for me.

I have thoroughly enjoyed Conker: Live and Reloaded, Kameo: Elements of power, Viva Pinata and Banjo-Kazooie, if anything those titles are highly underrated, that's just my personal opinion though and you are more than free to disagree.

I mean, RARE is only a shell of it's former self, but it's a little disingenuous to say all their games are trash.

Pretty much agree with all your other points though.

And I must re-affirm to general forum goers that if a game is on a competing platform... I.E. Xbox One title on Steam or a Playstation 4 title on Steam, then by it's very definition it is NOT exclusive... So if you could stop using the exclusive label, that would be Mc'Great.

Too bad that the PC community sucks ass. The majority of PC gamers are also egomaniacs who care more about the equipment that went inside their PC rather than the games it plays. Also, China, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and some parts of Japan who are factored into your statistics, don't even OWN a PC. They play their games at internet cafes for a fee. China just barely got the PS4 in 2015, but it won't take off because it's much cheaper to play at internet cafes still. The Asian territories who primarily game at internet cafes, probably account for 250% of that 400% revenue number, and 28% of that market share number. Also PC exclusives suck ass. They can have League of Legends.

Way too many assumptions and generalizations here. And cut down on who "sucks ass". All of that is entirely unnecessary.

I've never heard of someone getting "swatted" on console or getting revenge hacked. Just saying. I know I made a generalization, because that's how I feel towards PC gamers. You can't sit there and tell me that they're not egomaniacs when they call themselves the "PC Master Race". PC gamers aren't even gamers, they're hobbyists who so happens to be accountable for 90% of cyber crime in the world. I'll say it again: PC gamers suck ass.

But he wasn't denying that. His insinuation was that the less exclusives a console has, the less incentive there is to buy it.

"with a lack of true exclusives, current and future-wise, there is nothing there on X1 that gives an incentive to pick one up.  If can play the same games elsewhere then why bother?"

In my opinion he meant that there is no reason (incentive) to buy an Xbox, not that there is less incentive, and I wanted to make my point against that.

And, again (with a Warning this time), cut the nonsense. Last chance you get!

Oh God, I just get a little annoyed with comments like these on PC gamers. The efforts we take to upgrade based on the trends deserves more respect. Are you upgrading your GPUs this year to TITAN Vs(more customized gaming version release)? I'm currently using 1080 Tis.

Potentially. Maybe not. It doesn't beat two Xp's. Becomes a little harder to justify that $3000 at that point. :P

Yeah...not much of performance gain either with four times the price of a 1080ti. I'm currently on two 1080 Tis.
