I think so too, i just found the tweet very interesting.

I could be wrong, but Disney has kept the quality of their movies very high, i would rather less quantity with higher quality than a shit ton of shitty movies with a great movie here and there.

Fair if we're talking blockbusters, but Hollywood needs to produce smaller films as well or all we'll have are superhero and Star Wars movies. I love those movies, but the industry is better when smaller, more artistic films are releasing at a decent rate.

Agreed!

Smaller films tend to take more risks too, so thats a good thing in my book!

Disney taking over every aspect of entertainment

One big company at a time

Yup. Next in line will be Universal Studios (Hulk, Jurassic World, Fast & Furious) or Sony Pictures (Spider-Man).

Yeah, I mean if you look at other film studios, they're churning out some utter shit that and making films that nobody wants, which makes me question how they're even making money...

Disney isn't churning out shit because their entire output is so incredibly boring and generic. But fuck originality and creativity, right?

What is it with you people?

Coco, Thor, and Star Wars are all critical darlings, and Guardians and Born in China received great reviews. Batting more than .500 is great for a movie studio.

I have seen 3 of those so far and all 3 were at least an 8/10 in my book.

Let me guess. Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Thor 3 (aka the 17th movie in the MCU) and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

How am i joking? From your list I've seen half of those movies and they are great.

I dont understand your point.

If I remember correctly Fox big bet on Avatar 2 was set up to compete with Star Wars IX. I would think now Disney will space out releases with Avatar series shifted to avoid cannibalization. The challenge when you own so much is getting out of your own way.

Actually none of those are right xD Maybe I'm strange, but I liked Pirates 5, Cars 3 (best of the 3 Cars movies), and Beauty and the Beast.

I didn't mean to be demeaning. Sorry.

I'm just quite unhappy with Disney now having a 40% market share and at the same time owning huge media networks (ABC) and social networks (like the aforementioned Maker Studios) dictating what to consume.

Bristow9091 is right in that most of the Disney movies aren't shit. They just seem so safe and generic (imo). For instance, I think the 17 MCU movies are far too similar. After the first couple of movies I didn't experience anything new. If Disney was more likely to allow directors to bring something new and creative to the table, I'd imagine the MCU could serve as an interesting platform where every movie could feel like a new IP.

See my post above.

Finally Xmen can appear besides the Avengers

Disney has such a huge portfolio now.

Why? Don't they already own enough?
