Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What's the reaction to the lack of Switch Black Friday sales

Not discounting the main system outside of a few bundles is expected since this is the first year.

I am disappointed they didn't discount any accessories... mainly the Pro controller, I really wanted to pick up a discounted pro controller.

I'd like to see the joy-con red/blue pair knocked down $10 or $20 and I'd get a second set.

They are gonna sell as much as they can ship regardless so cutting the price wouldnt make any sense for them.

stock is available everywhere so far online, so it's not close to selling out.

Cool, kinda missed the point but thats ok.

Expected really. I don't recall Ninten having the best BF deals years past anyways.

Its the first year, so Im not surprised. PS4 didnt have any major deals its first year either

In Canada, Sony actually raised the price of the PS4 by $50 from the launch price only a few months in while sales were still hot.  Exchange Rate was the excuse, but demand was why they got away with it.

I heard that it was the first time in Canada that a company raised the launch price of a game console for the exact same launch hardware bundle.  Nintendo and Microsoft kept the same price for existing hardware bundles for Wii U and Xbox One.  Sony also did not increase the price for the less popular PS3 at that time.

Nintendo rarely have Black Fridays sales compared to competition in any case, but point about Switch specifically is that Switch that sells great in any case and that has stock problems.

Oh thats evil XD

Has Nintendo ever had “Black Friday” deals? I have never heard of this before.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I feel it will be difficult for Nintendo to compete with PS4 and XONE at such a high price this holiday. I am willing to go as far as to say that it may even result in the system losing momentum. Those that are purchasing Christmas gifts are going to look at the price of the Switch and its games and compare it to PS4 and XONE and its games and make the decision based on that. The weakest part of the Switch and its biggest threat is the price (other threats to the system that follow are lack of third-party support, lack of non-gaming features, and poor online infrastructure).

They are doomed to make more money.
