Forums - General Discussion - 21st Century Fox has been holding talks to sell most of the company to Disney

That super hero money is surely paying off for Disney. Buying LucasFilms and making moves to buy 20th Century Fox (which has some of the Marvel properties Disney has no access to, plus The Simpsons powerhouse) so soon after that. They are going to englobe the whole entertainment business at this point. How can other companies ever counter Disney's growth at this point?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I don't really care for it. But my whole issue is this: In school I was taught that our government is supposed to be opposed to big business mergers that create monopolies. Especially the Republican side of our government. So why is nothing being done about this in a Rep controlled US gov?!

Surely anti-trust regulation would take effect sooner or later, right?

Of course. As a zero corruption country the US always has a firm grip on their corporuuuuhahahahahAHAHAHA! Can't even finish that sentence without lughing my ass off

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Maybe governments could force Disney to be split into several Independent companies? It's not good when too much money and influence is condensed into one company. Break them up!

Disney is really getting too powerful.

On the other hand, more Marvel movie licenses going to Disney can only be a good thing.

Talks were in place, but are now dead... for the time being.

Because many of your representatives are corrupt or have been bought out, lobbying is legal and the president is a corporate crony.

Can you imagine, if it had been so since the beginning of the past century?

A trillion-dollar Standard Oil pushing fossil fuel into the 22nd century, and AT&T suffocating phone and internet services. It would likely be a less technologically advanced society as well, since there would be less innovative start-ups because of the fear of being copied or defeated by anti-competitive behaviour (something Google and Facebook, two companies which should have been broken-up already, are being accused of doing right now).

Well, if Disney do get the movie rights back to X-Men and Fantastic Four, then Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite really would have been intentionally fucked up for nothing.

The fall of this country cannot come soon enough

Of course, it depends on how it falls.
