Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Hard Drive for Wii U

I have run out of space on my Wii U.  I've downloaded a few too many games from the eShop, so I am having to do the delete and re-download shuffle, which sucks.

Does anyone have any recommendations for hard drives to use with the Wii U?  I don't have anything sitting around at home, so I need to buy something new.  Any advice would be great!

Lol Wii U.
I'd suggest using a 32gb flash drive. The https://goo.gl/YzsnLE

I bought a 2TB Toshiba Canvio for my Wii U. Worked fine during the three years I used it.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

I had a 2TB Seagate external on my Wii U. Wish I could use that on my Switch.

2TB for Wii U games? Isnt that a bit much since most Wii U gamers were pretty small.

You can reuse it after you are done with your WiiU.

You're going to need a Y USB cable otherwise you'll have to get one with an external power source. This is the one I used. It's a must!!

Depends.  There have been some good deals on the eShop lately for a few of what would typically be retail games.  So at the moment I have Mario Kart 8, Darksiders 1 and 2, Rayman Legends, and Smash Bros all as digital versions.  Just those games are around 26-27 GB right there.

And that doesn't include the all the other smaller digital games I have, or save files.  Plus the system files take up a big chunk of the Wii U internal storage.

Any issues with drawing the power supply that way vs one with an external power source?

Any external HDD will do. Seagate and WD are cheap on Amazon. Just make sure it has a Y cable.
