1-2 hours into the game. The look of it is kinda similar but a the same time way more crisp than the original was.

I noticed that right away. You get some definitely jaggies as a result but you can really appreciate the details in the distance more. Nothing like the weird tricks we had to work with the base game. https://youtu.be/IWaORkp1t4Q

I'm really looking forward to getting Torna. Interesting interview with (I think) Nintendo Life, in which Tetsuya Takahashi commented on the prequel being content that would have taken place between chapters 7 and 8 - and he's also said he thinks Torna is best played between chapters 7 and 8 of the main game.

I got a little fatigued with Xenoblade 2, due to some of the baffling design choices others (and myself) have mentioned throughout this thread. That being said, New Game Plus does appeal now some of the rough edges have been honed off. I'm considering getting Torna as a physical release, downloading the expansion pass content so I can unlock the DLC Blades in my current save-file, then starting a New Game Plus. I'd do up to chapter 7, then play Torna, then do the final chapters - and this time I'd aim to recruit all the rare Blades and do all the side-quests.

I really don't know if that's compatible with real-life, though! Maybe I'll just do Torna for now.

I wish there was more DLC set after the ending of Torna, cause there is a damn interesting story to tell there

Interview going out saying this is last content update for the game and so far no additional plans for the franchise yet. So for a while this will be all we get from the franchise.

Honestly, I'm glad, as much as I like the Xenoblade games, I wanna see Monolith do something different next, preferably a new IP.

Well, their next game is a medieval RPG so maybe your wish will become true.

10 hours in, and my whole party is at level 32 now. This game seems to progress quite a bit faster, curious if I'll plateau soon.

I guess I know why Pyra is the one who cooks now. Mythra cooking scene was hilarious.

For all intents and purposes, X might as well have been a new IP, and 1 and 2 were mostly self-contained before the Zanza/Klaus reveal.

Personally I don't mind if they continue the trend and Xenoblade 3 is another new world with late game connections. That way newcomers can jump right in and people like me can still geek out at the interconnections between the worlds.

Though didn't X end with a cliffhanger? The game wasn't really my jam so I never finished, but I thought I read something like that. I probably wouldn't get it but XCX fans probably deserve closure at some point.

X wasn't a cliffhanger per say but it left a huge question open in regards to the final twist which further pushed the realisation that the world of Mira has something unusual about it.

XCX didn't have a cliffhanger ending, but rather it did forego to answer the big general question about Mira. It's the kind of question that could lessen the game if it got answered, because a logical and coherent answer seems farfetched.

Hmm...I see, good to know. I guess it doesn't necessarily need a sequel then.

Torna shifts the focus to sidequests at about the point where you are, so the pace of level ups slows down.

Also good to know. I've been zooming through level ups so fast I've stopped using the base camp like I did in the main game. I'll probably just give myself ten or so level ups after I beat it and start exploring every nook and cranny.

X was still definitely the same IP, it was more similar to Xenoblade 1 and 2 than many mainline Final Fantasy games are to each other.

And I'd rather they not follow up X; it wasn't a bad game but it was a bit disappointing and I'd rather see them try their hand at something fresh. Hopefully that Western-ish action RPG mentioned about a year back fits the bill.

It probably doesn't "need" a sequel, but I disagree that the game isn't complete (while agreeing that any explanation is probably going to detract). For example, the very last scene of the ending briefly introduces a new character. Who? Couldn't tell you! There are also a few matters that were indirectly raised by not at all addressed during the game proper. If it's who I suspect, we actually learn more about that person in XC2 than in X itself (not that we learn a whole lot...).

On the whole, X was incomplete, plot-wise. Not sure that alone warrants a sequel, although I would be pleased if we got a game that refined a lot of its mechanics: the exploration was great, and I came to appreciate the mission structure over time, even if the characters and narrative were "meh." The combat system was also good, even if there was room for improvement.

*Plot twist*

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 !!

Well, we need Xenoblade X-2 before that but yeah, that is Sakurai level of trolling.
