Forums - Sales Discussion - PSN still makes more money than the entirety of Nintendo Co., Ltd.

Here's something I noticed while browsing through the latest financial reports. All figures provided are for the six months from April 1 - September 30, 2017 (Q1/Q2 FY3/2018).

Sony: https://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/IR/library/fr/17q2_sony.pdf
Nintendo: https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2017/171030e.pdf

PSN has a higher revenue than Nintendo Co. Ltd.

Nintendo Co. Ltd. revenue 374.041 billion JPY [from page 5]
Sony Game and Network Services Network revenue (PSN revenue) : 418.288 billion JPY [from page F-9]

In terms of operating income, here is Sony Game and Network Services (PlayStation) with a higher figure than that of Nintendo.

Nintendo Co. Ltd. Operating Income: 39.961 billion JPY [from page 5]
Sony Game and Network Services Operating Income: 72.483 billion JPY [from page F-7]

Erratum: a previous version of this post erroneously noted that figures for Nintendo Co. Ltd. were taken from page 4 of the financial report. The post has since been updated to reflect the correct page number.

That's why we soon have to pay for online play on the Switch.

Because Nintendo online is free.

For 2 more months However, it sounds like Sony is also planning on making changes to MAU, so I expect them to attempt to have microtransactions/GaaS more prominently in the future.

EA and WB will be so proud.

And still Nintendo is valued higher than Sony, and people still happy about the strange things of stock market.

The first year of a new console launch is never the most profitable one for obvious reasons.

What kind of revenue and profit did Sony make during the PS4's first year?

Stock markets are based on future potential.

speculation about future potential.

If you don't understand that Nintendo's profits can grow tremendously over the next few years then I don't know what to tell you. Bigger userbase, bigger library, paid online services, more mobile games (like Animal Crossing, which may be their biggest mobile hit yet), opening of amusement parks, etc.

Sure, and Sony is expected to not grow right. I'll give you a big Zzzzzzzz and wait for you to have Million in stocks before even entretaining your argument.

The same stock market that put Nintendo market value in the release of Pokemon Go and after plummeted when learn Nintendo wasn't the owner of it... such inteligent and future potential true knowledge.

Seems as reliable as those 90% chance of Sony going under in 2 years.
