And in that era they had just had a great game in 2006 and were looking forward to a promising one slated for 2010. I mean, you can't be serious, right? Zelda fans don't moan about spin-offs because they know there is always a high-budget, big Zelda game in development - Metroid fans were annoyed with Federation Force because it had been five years since the latest release (and 8 years since the last decent one), and the future of the series was uncertain. Everyone just wanted a proper Metroid game that showed Nintendo knew what to do with the franchise, instead they got a horrible looking spin-off that went against a lot of what Metroid is supposed to be about, and seemed to show Nintendo actually had no idea what they were doing.
I'm not sure what's so hard to understand here, you're acting like Metroid fans are these evil people for not accepting the existence of spin-offs when really it's all a matter of circumstance. How do you think people would react if Skyward Sword was the last Zelda thing that ever happened and then in E3 2017 Nintendo announced Tri Force Heroes?

Because you lot sounding off on a spinoff, one that itself isn't bad game either and even confirmed Prime 4, is still one of the dumbest over reactions many of us have seen because if a spin off was made then it signals the series still has a priority in their plans, instead we saw people like waahhh my Prime games waah throwing their toys out the pram and hilariously the were two games in the pipeline when they were doing so. A main line Metroid title was alway going to arrive we can understand disappointment as many fans have gone through that but the reaction to it was overblown this is the fanbase who swear Metroid is a massive franchise then get insecure over such matters.
Want to know even further why its a dumb reaction Metroid fans themselves don't know what to do with the series when Prime was first shown you lot lost your shit now it's all you want to suck on. How would I feel if SWS was the last thing I saw and TFH was inbetween I'd shrug my shoulders brush it aside as the's always a Zelda game on the way they're usually far apart anyway and the game would show the series has a place in their plans.
Blame the Wii U's woes for waiting so long as I'm sure Prime 4 was originally going to be on it but they likely moved it to Switch when the system was a confirmed dead horse.
