PS4 have been on growth YOY so far, so we can't be exactly sure that 2015 was a real peak or just the highest selling year (because it have 3 years of very close sales then it isn't really a peak on the first of those years but more of a platô).

I'm talking about the peak year so far and that was 2015 and not 2016
The poster said 2016 was supposed to be the peak year.
Yes, we don't know if 2017 will surpass 2015 or not.
It's a hard task as Ps4 needs to sell more than 3.5 million over the next 4 months.
And the competition is stronger with Xbox One X as a new console release and Switch

My bad, read it wrong... but yes depends on how much PS4 sales this year, if it is less than 2016 then we can call 2015 a peak (unless later it peaks again) but if it's above 2016 and below 2015 we can say it platoed, if it's over 2015 then its possibly the peak unless it does magic and peak in 2018 or later.

Isn't it the second best August? Xbox One S launched in August 2016, and Xbox One sold 275k in that month.

Is that right? My mistake. I guess I only looked at PS4. Now that I think about it, 3DS also beat that at least once, in August 2011 when it got its huge price cut (it was around 235k that month).

Those are both pretty special circumstances but I admit defeat just the same.

No I think he meant people thought the PS4 peaked WW in 2016. I do not think the poster was meaning just in the US.

Yes, this is what I meant. I came to that conclusion because official PS4 sales are 17.8M in 2015 vs 19.4M in 2016. For the first half of this year, sales are up by 6.9%.

Not quite the same though is it. GTAV isn't the only bundle. People can choose to buy a different bundle (or a standalone console, those actually exist for PS/Xbox) if they don't want to get GTA.

Not the point.  While GTA would still be in the top 3 best selling titles of all time, if not THE best selling, if unbunbled, it's also still one of the MOST bundled games of all time.  It holds a rather rare distinction.  And it's of a disservice to the debate to only point out Wii Sports bundling and not GTA V's.  Again, that doesn't take away from GTA V's accomplishment but we can't seperate how many were bundled and how many were not.

No, I don't think so. We would have noticed if it was heavily bundled. There were limited time ones though.

Those are the correct shipment numbers, but actual sell-through was 17.4M in 2015 and 17.5M in 2016.
