Come on, we all kno what he meant. No need to be grammar/definition perfect.

Like ex, when you said XX is a flop. When flop isnt the correct term here

What term is correct then? I guess we could try "It sold really badly, but we also kinda thought it would do badly so I guess that's ok"?

What were expectations for the game? Is it really bad considering its in a console first 6-7months of launch, and importantly its a game thats a port of a port of a spin off entry that was stealth announced after 3ds version was released. On top of that released not that far after and on top of a new mainlinr MH game announced?

Yeah flop for who? Its a quick cashgrab that capcom makes a nice profit for. Its not as bad as people make it. Its disappointing considering the brand name sure no doubt but again its not as bad as a "flop"

Flop/bomba are used too loosely in sales forums. This is another case of it

Exactly.  Nothing wrong with my statement that XX flopped.  A lot of people have said the same.  The games performance was extremely lacklustre.

Alot of people didnt say the same. Only thing i saw was drvita biased post which was quite embarrassing but for you leta be honest if it was a ps4 port these numbers would be a huge success as its on a "tradtional" HC.

My point is its a flop because on switch (in yours and drvita case).

Capcom didnt even try with this game and many kno it. Sales arent good but "Flop" gets overused once again. Its more of a fanwar word imo but oh well screw my opinion.

I'm talking about the wider Internet and not our little Vgchartz bubble.  It's almost certainly well below capcoms expectations too.

The way capcom treated it doesnt show but who knows. In your opinion what were expectations for this game (capcom's and no i wont argue with your answer)

Most expectations for when it was announced was ~200-250k FW, and only that low because of the series fatigue. How long the Switch has been out is irrelevant because it's a very popular console and in extremely high demand in Japan. A Monster Hunter title with a nice bundle should have done 6 figures.  The game barely sold through half of its shipment FW, and I don't see how you can call it anything other than a flop at this point. Maybe it'll do well as the Switch continues to sell (wouldn't surprise me), but at the moment, it's absolutely a flop. I don't think it means that a MH World Portable wouldn't do well on Switch, but this still sold worse than anyone expected.

For a series like Monster Hunter, you have different standards for what you expect these later versions to do. I don't see how it can be spinned into anything else. I think the only reason why expectations were tempered so much is because we knew that it was doing horribly from COMG and other preorder numbers.

Capcom better get used to lower sales for the MH franchise in general. MHW on PS4 is doing 1.5 mill tops if they're lucky in Japan ... a far, far, far cry from the days of doing 4+ million on the PSP and 3DS.

Monster Hunter 5 on Switch is going to have to happen, the whole reason the franchise is so big in Japan to begin with is because the portability allowed kids/teenagers to play together during school breaks on the go, that's why it's never been nearly as big locked to a home console.

Switch being new still is relevant actually because if your a MH fan doesnt mean you have a switch. Remember its still very hard to even get a switch. Look at when MH Switch was announced. Switch sold almost 1mil (talking about people buying it not for MH) and since then its been the splatoon fans buying it up. How many MH fans dont even have a switch at this point? I mean if it were available like wiiu or 3ds was when the MH games came out then sure you might be right but Switch is a special case in that reguard. You think pokemon fans have a switch if a game would be announced in 3 months with all this high demand?

And MH bundle should have done 6 figures when splatoon2 couldnt do it. What kind of statement is that? Switch is still in the bad supply phase bro!

And now selling just under half of shipment is a flop right? Especially when MH fans still cant even get a switch if they wanted too. Not even all the people that want splat2 have a switch yet.

Disappointing numbers for aure because its monster Hunter but realistically like i said previously its a port of a port that came out less than 6 months ago of a spin off. 85k is low but no flop. We seen flops but.... Well this wont go anywhere :/

Outlaw isnt arguing anything outside of MHXX its just this gamr we are talking about.

That said i think MHW can actually pull off 1.5mil+ in japan. Especially its exclusive and it has no other MH announced atm

Console only MH's are not the same thing as the portable ones. Even on the PS2 and Wii ... two consoles that were far more successful than the PS4 in Japan, no console MH sold much more than a million. And if memory serves, even MH Tri on Wii had to be heavily discounted to hit 1 million.

It's a portable centric franchise there ... that's the whole part of the appeal is being able to play locally alongside your buddies in Japan, that's how it took off (much like Pokemon and the public trading of monsters). Take out the portability and you basically cut the balls off the franchise.

When announced I expected 500k FW and 1m+ LTD.

After it appeared to underperform and then MHW ps4?announcement further knocking the wind from its sails I expected 200k+ at launch.

Way below my expectations despite it having a bundle.
