Most expectations for when it was announced was ~200-250k FW, and only that low because of the series fatigue. How long the Switch has been out is irrelevant because it's a very popular console and in extremely high demand in Japan. A Monster Hunter title with a nice bundle should have done 6 figures.  The game barely sold through half of its shipment FW, and I don't see how you can call it anything other than a flop at this point. Maybe it'll do well as the Switch continues to sell (wouldn't surprise me), but at the moment, it's absolutely a flop. I don't think it means that a MH World Portable wouldn't do well on Switch, but this still sold worse than anyone expected.

For a series like Monster Hunter, you have different standards for what you expect these later versions to do. I don't see how it can be spinned into anything else. I think the only reason why expectations were tempered so much is because we knew that it was doing horribly from COMG and other preorder numbers.

Capcom better get used to lower sales for the MH franchise in general. MHW on PS4 is doing 1.5 mill tops if they're lucky in Japan ... a far, far, far cry from the days of doing 4+ million on the PSP and 3DS.

Monster Hunter 5 on Switch is going to have to happen, the whole reason the franchise is so big in Japan to begin with is because the portability allowed kids/teenagers to play together during school breaks on the go, that's why it's never been nearly as big locked to a home console.

Outlaw isnt arguing anything outside of MHXX its just this gamr we are talking about.

That said i think MHW can actually pull off 1.5mil+ in japan. Especially its exclusive and it has no other MH announced atm
