Forums - PC Discussion - Oculus Rift & Touch bundle is totally worth it imho (mind blown)

I've played PSVR and it works just like you want it too. I just don't see a must have thing for it, and the price of admission is still far to high to get the average person on board, same with all VR devices. 5 years from now let's talk again.

For me, VR Sports Challenge is a killer app.  As I said, and I've seen it compared elsewhere, it really is the Wii Sports of the Oculus Rift.  There isn't another place I know of at this moment that can give me the immersion of really feeling like I'm a QB standing on a football field right from my living room.  I don't disagree that the price is high for the average person, and I am by no means more well off than most.  But, it's come down enough that I felt this was the right time to jump in and I'm glad I did.

If they can get that into stores then the way they got Wii Sports into every store I'd say it has a shot. I just don't see it getting into stores, and the first time I've ever even heard of it is right here. And not to mention $250 (I think is what the Wii retailed at when first released) vs the entry point for Oculus.

Is anyone looking forward to seeing how MS mixed reality sets will impact the market. Having AR/VR including the new wands sound like they give the best of both worlds.

Don't get fooled by the name... the announced "mixed reality" headsets aren't a mix of augmented and virtual reality, they are only VR headsets without external positional tracking.

What VR games are there with a metascore of 80 or higher? I feel like there needs to be at least seven good unique games for a platform before I dive in. At least seven games promised, or announced. So far all I can think of that I would want VR for is Skyrim and Ace Combat 7.

You are in luck, there are eight: http://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/score/metascore/all/ps4/filtered?hardware=psvr

I also can't understand the mediocre scores of "Farpoint" and "Until Dawn: Rush of Blood"... they are awesome!

You are right about that.  I had never heard of it either until browsing the Oculus store once my Rift was up and running.

This review is almost a year old, but I had never seen it until yesterday while creating this thread:

The difference is that the mixed reality have actual cameras within them while the current VR headsets do not.  The link I posted shows someone actually demoing one of the headsets with a wand device MS created.  It seems there is no need for an external camera for room scale if I read the preview correctly.

I played Rush of Blood at my friend's house.  It has a creep factor to it, but I didn't really feel like I was there, and therefore never felt any imposing danger.  I don't know if it was because it's on rails.  But it didn't feel like actually being on a haunted house coaster either.  Not to me anyway.

For comparison, I started playing Wilson's Heart on Oculus Rift last night.  Now that game transported me into actually feeling like I was in that hospital, even though it's in black and white.  The jump scares literally shook me.  That is the kind of immersion I am looking for when it comes to VR.

Yay, another convert. Great times ahead, there's so much to experience already. I currently have 48 VR titles in my psvr folder on the ps4 pro. Not sure why I still put them in there as they far outnumber the old stuff anyway. I should just make a 'crappy 2D games' folder instead, or simply delete them to make room for more VR games :)

Since you have the Vive, definitely try out Fantastic contraption. It was already great to complete on psvr but should be a much better experience of Vive. I love puzzle/building games, in VR they're even better. Statik is great as well but I don't think that's ported over yet.
