I use to play games on my PC but too many things ruin it. First, I like a controller a lot more than keyboard and mouse and yes I know you can use a controller for PC, but if you want to play online you must use keyboard and mouse or else you will get owned in a lot of games. Second, there is a lot of hackers and cheaters on pc compare to consoles. Third, sometimes third party gives you really bad ports or the game just won't run properly and I have to do a lot of setup/configurations. Fourth, I find console a lot cheaper. There is more I can list, but those are just the basics.

Controller preference is personal, mouse and keyboard is more taxing to learn and master than a regular controller, in return you get an insane amount of input possibilities compared to regular controllers. Once you do master PC controls, you will learn to appreciate its possibilities when games take advantage of it. Arma 3 is a good example of an awesome millitary simulator that allows you to do an insane amount things. Leaning stance on consoles is considered advanced, but in arma. That is one of most basic functions and the game would never be able to work with a controller without sacrificing the entire immersion and feel.
Regarding cheaters and hackers.. It is true, but games themselves and steam have gotten insanely good at catching these scum and banning them. I don't feel like I see that many cheaters in a lot of games these days, and if so that is on the developers end, as all the systems to prevent such things are in place and works as best they propably can. Also consider that PC is soon gonna be the only relevant system that has free MP
In terms of consoles being cheaper.. Not really. The suggested retail price for most games (except for our EA overlords and a few others) is 50 dollars instead of 60. So yeah. The PC itself is more expensive, but there is a misconception when it comes to PC hardware prices.. Most people think they need to buy a way more powerful machine than they need. That is the wrong thing to do. If you can live without 4k then you can get a pc for around 600-700 dollars and still get better graphics than on console early on (assuming you bought one when a new gen of consoles arrives) and after 3 years or so it will be on parity with consoles.. So after 6 years or so most will propably want to buy a new one or switch out bottlenecks depending on where games gets most taxing on the hardware. At this point you will have earned back your initial 100-200 dollar up front extra purchase compared to console price. , and then some. And yes, while some games are poorly optimised on pc( looking at you batman arkham Knight), the majority is well optimised and will net you that better performance and visual fidelity compared to consoles. Half way through your system.
