Forums - Website Topics - Proposal: Get political threads off the front page

If I was the minority, political threads wouldn't have been among the most viewed and the most discussed topics on vgc. But let's ignore those numbers and go by the unrepresentative polls that you are "fairly sure" about.

It's called a vocal minority for a reason, you guys make a lot of noise and want to impose your wishes ignoring the simple bolded fact.

You have a rather large gaping hole in your theory. You are assuming they are the most viewed and discussed.. because they are on the front page. The front page of the video game chartz website. Of which they are neither video games, nor chartz.

You are also assuming that either of those qualities are worth mentioning. You are assuming that both A) people are coming to the video game chartz website to discuss politics - and ONLY  politics. And also B) that they are doing that because they are on the front page.

So you are assuming that the website will see a lot less use if the the politics aren't even on the front page.

But this conversation is fairly pointless. I already have a script that blocks them so this gets me something, and you are screaming "shut up minorities" shows you have really no wanting to, or even the ability to have a discussion on it.

Have a good day, I look forward to your fruther trump impersonations.

First of all, my initial comment, that you are clearly so offended by, was a light-hearted comment. You're trying to discredit everything I say by constantly bringing it up and make assumptions about what I am assuming....

You can simply check the number of views and posts each thread on vgc gets. I am not assuming they're among the most viewed and the most discussed, in fact, they really are. Check the numbers.

Anyway, you guys have fun quarreling over this, I am sure we'll be discussing it 2 weeks from now... again.

We can't even have a nice discussion here I guess I said it wouldn't get at the roots of the problem, but maybe the tree branch is much smaller than I had previously thought.

Random acts of violence aside, agreed, fuck political threads. Not a single one of them is positive, and it only reminds us of humanity's ugliness.

It's always filled with 'stupid liberals' or rants about how (insert group) is actually behind everything. There's a boogey man to a lot of people, whether it'd be Trump, Soros, or anyone else.

Pretty toxic, but that's politics. Usually smaller threads are the more interesting ones. I made one about the UK's law changes surrounding acid attacks and the conversation was solid. Once it grows or involves us politics (typically left vs right), it turns into a shitfest

That's just politics in general here in the US. Ever since Bill Clinton the presidency has seemed more like a reality TV show rather than a significant position of office.

But as for the whole discussion thing, I tend to just try and make conversation, but it normally ends up in the shitfest category, for the exact reasons you stated. I also have to be VERY careful about the subject I enter, because depending on the story, I don't want to deal with the one sided banter from either side. I can understand why someone would remove Politics from the front page.

After All, if you're going to VGChartz, odds are it's not for politics.

My fault, I am throwing words around like snowflakes and vocal minority carelessly, but I am not being serious. Apologies.

Is it really that hard for people to just not click on threads they don`t want to read? Seriously?

/thread

People need to learn impluse control. For the life of me, I can't understand the current trend of people not being able to ignore things they don't like.

People like to voice their displeasure as much as possible. Truth is, a large chunk of people would be less satisfied if they didn't have anything they consider worth bitching about.

Ultimately, this is what The Mod Team is going to stick by. We have no need to remove the topics from the front. It's very simple to keep on scrollin' and ignore!

There are decent points on this thread on why that is not the case, not to mention other Mods have already posted in agreement of the OP.

Oh shit, you actually quoted his original post!!

lol
In my defense, I hit quote, I got sidetracked, and then replied a couple minutes later.

Agreed otherwise, bring back the nsfw threads on the front page

Agreed, because honestly I feel the politics section can get even worse then the NSFW section. Especially since most NSFW threads are lighthearted vs the serious nature of politics.

The NSFW threads are fairly tame in any case, since even in those threads there are still rules on what is allowed.
