Forums - Sales Discussion - July 2017 NPD Thread! Switch #1

I remember a time when the leakers at GAF (I think it was Aqua and Cream?) didn't want their numbers reposted here on VGCZ. But if I remember correctly, it was our understanding that the reasoning for that was not a safety concern, but because they didn't like this site, or something like that? Or am I remembering wrong, and it was due to safety concerns?

No, I'm pretty sure you're right. At least for cream. If I remember right, aqua just wanted credit given to him/her for the leaks. And then he/she got banned on Gaf and moved over to this site.

Nice month overall!(Except for XBox, of course XD).Numbers for Switch are a bit lower than expected, though I think given that the demand for Splatoon 2 was bigger on Japan, maybe they reallocated more units to there, even when they managed to increase the production.

As for this whole situation, how about we do like this:One day before the NPD officially gives away its numbers to the publishers, we open the NPD thread, like always. So, if by any chance a leaker have data that he or she wants to share(in this case, Librarian), how about he mass PM the numbers to the users interested in that number? To have some kind of control over this, I suggest that:

1) The user needs to activelly say that he is interested to receive the numbers, and must say every single month on that NPDs month thread.

2) The user must have at least 1000 points, so that at least holds back people that makes accounts just for these numbers, or that arent well known here, to minimize the risk of the number leaking everywhere.

3) Dosent allow users with history of not being "good" users(In the sense that they are not civil, or that might be not reliable enough to be entrusted with the numbers without passing them along). For this it would need to have a mod to vouch for the users that come here and asks for the numbers.

And if there is an issue with not wanting to come here for days on end to spread the numbers through PM, just estabilish a time limit for the request. When everyone receives the numbers, then we can discuss it here on the thread, but not writing down any numbers and keeping it as vague as possible(For example, we can say that Switch/PS4 is number one for the month, that the numbers for said game are or arent surprising, but never actually writing down any number). It is incovinient, and it requires a bit more effort than just posting them here, but it may be safer this way for the leakers.

Only thing that this requires to really work is the goodwill of the users. But this community is very good, and if those security measures are put, I dont think we would have that much of an issue.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Gaf is showcasing equal hypocrisy and elitism. They treated this community horribly for years for our actions and then when the tables flip they just go and break their "ethics"

then by all means, go ahead and tell them that. im not a member on that site nor do i plan to be. but i am glad you agree with me that this site is showing massive amounts of hypocrisy and elitism.

It's the internet. By definition it will be full of it, no matter where you go.

Unfortunate NeoGaf won't rise above it now that VGC has (at least temporarily) realized the reasoning behind being more stealthy.

Bets:

1. If the Wii U sells closer to 10 million LTD by 1/3/2015 I win. If it sells closer to 9.5 million LTD by 1/3/2015 OfficerRaichu15 wins (winner gets 2 weeks of avatar control)--Lost.

Someone different each month can then post the numbers a few days after GAF does their prediction ranking.

Congrats to the Switch and PS4!

Any indication how xb1 hardware did?

Ethomaz truly is magnificent. Capable of screwing over VGC while being actively perma'd.

Thanks for the leak though, lib.

YAY! SWITCH and Splatoon 2!!!

Pocky Lover Boy!

Nice to have numbers again! NPD should just go public tbh at least for hardware, publishers can keep their pathetic software numbers hidden if they want. Also good that you rounded them, so cannot be traced as easy.

XB1 should be around 100k again if not less. PS4 massively up YoY, Switch doing decently.

Also assuming a few games ahead of Splatoon 2 with digital included for the other games due to lack of sharing from Nintendo.
