Forums - Sony Discussion - How are you guys keeping your PSVR cleaned, and stored?

I'm keeping it at behind the glass door at my local Wal-Mart for safekeeping.

Came in to make this same type of joke....

I use it every night, wipe down the nose flaps and headband after use. I only clean the lenses once a month at most as even the microfiber cloth ended up putting scratches on the lenses. With careful use they don't really get dirty where it matters. The top of the lenses do get some smudges from my eyebrows, yet as long as that's out of the fov it's not worth it to risk smearing that around the lenses.

Don't worry too much about scratches though. I got a bad one on the left lens from early use, not sure how it happened. It's visible as a slight blur in 2D mode, yet in VR it's almost impossible to spot. Luckily the way the optics work I'm far more likely to see any specs of dirt on my glasses than on the headset. It looks a lot worse when you inspect it while not wearing it, but as long as it looks great while wearing it, don't mess with it.

Next headset I'm getting I'll be a lot more careful with cleaning from the start. I was cleaning it regularly when I just got it, like a camera lens, trying to get it to look shiny clean. However the glass in psvr is quite soft and easily scratched.

For storage, I have it sitting on a throw pillow on the couch next to where I use it, lenses pointing slightly down so no light falls into them or dust can settle in there.

A thick layer of dust keeps any dirt away from my PSVR! I have even more dust on my Oculus Rift.

Dip in battery acid. Cleans it up thoroughly!

You didn't hear it from me though.

I just rub the lenses with my t-shirt.
My new girlfriend wants to try it all the time, then she put the helmet on, looks around for 30 seconds, screams in horror and say "I will never want to do this again" in tears. A couple of hours later she says "Let´s play PSVR again?", rinse and repeat.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I bought a stand for mine, but I use it so much it typically just gets set on the couch until the next day. As for cleanng, I bought a high quality microfiber cloth, and I clean it after each use. I have not had any issue with lens scratches, but I have been careful to make sure nothing is on the lens of the cloth before cleaning. I prefer to have it spotless, and fogless before each session. Games that work up a sweat usually leave the top of the lenses pretty nasty.

So far it is holdng up quiet nicely, and it has been through the ringer. I almost never miss a night of at least 15 min of VR, and most of the time it is an hour plus. On top of that I have had company over trying it out, or getting more time with it a couple days a week regularly. I would say as long as you are not tossing it around, or wiping it off with any old rag, then you shouldn't have to worry about any issues.

heh, threads like this always make me wonder how people have the patience to regularly clean stuff like that. I usually don`t clean something until either it needs to be moved, or it`s function is significantly impaired

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
