Since we're on the topic of Jon's family anyway.... Ned Stark was an absolute dick for not telling him who his parents really were! Can totally understand him not telling anyone else, and also not telling him when he was a kid. But when he was an adult? And going to join the Night's Watch too? He really should have told him then, he deserved to know!

As someone said Ned was going to tell him next time they met.

As for Jon being an adult, people need to remember the difference between the books and tv show. In the books, they are much much younger. Like 12-15 year olds versus the 18-25 year olds the show portrays them as.

Ned does say to Jon that the next time they meet they will talk more about his mother. Sadly, they never met again.

heh, it's been a good few years I must have forgot that. Still, he surely knew towards the end that his days were numbered. He could have sent a message with some kind of clue for him or something.

Pretty hard to do that in the King's Landing dungeons XD. I mean, Ned was sure he was going to win with the city guard help, and that turned out pretty bad. And in that moment he was actually more concerned about his daughters' fate than anything.

the hound is the best character

Yeah, and I get why they had to do that if they wanted to portray some sexual relationships in the book. Imagine if a 13 years old actress portraying Daenerys is shown having sexual relationships with a much older Khal Drogo. So I guess they decided to age... everyone in the show. Jon Snow was 14 in the book, so I get why Ned was cautious about it.

Oh another major thing I didn't mention - The freakin Jon and Dany meeting is finally gonna happen! I'm a little too excited for this.. Though I have to say, even though Dany's still probably a top 5 favorite character for me, she's looking more and more ruthless and a tad "Mad King" esque these days, kind of making her lose me a bit. Maybe Jon will soften her up a bit again..

I also was bummed to see she wants Jon to "bend the knee." I don't want to see Jon yield power to anyone, even Dany! Hopefully word from Bran will get to them soon that Jon is in fact a Targaryen himself so that power dynamic will shift as he'll have a legitimate claim on the throne or at least give him more leverage.

In my perfect world - Dany defeats Cersei and takes the 6 kingdoms while Jon remains king in the North, independent of the crown (having the blood of the first men and being similar to Wildlings, being subservient is simply not in their nature, which is why I feel like they're destined to remain an independent kingdom). Maybe as a fun little bonus - have Gendry come back and rule the Stormlands to carry on the Baratheon legacy.. Though these outcomes might just be a little too perfect, and as we all know, things in GoT don't always go that well to say the least.

That could actually work against him. The northeners really didn't seem to like Targaryens when talking about Dany. There's no doubt going to be some dissent when people find out, especially with Sansa still around, questioning Jon's decisions, and in charge while he's away. Perhaps that's also why Bran hasn't sent word. Could end badly if the wrong people find out at the wrong time, probably safest to make sure Jon is told in person first.

But you also forget that the mother is Lyanna Stark. So, he's still a Stark.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Not that much younger, isn't Robert's rebellion 17 years before season one on the show, and about 14 - 15 years before on the first book? And since then, I assume, about four years passed on both the show and the books.

OT - Also, factually accurate dialogue from the next episode. Beware the spoilers, folks:

Many of the characters may be 20 or so now, but when Jon last saw Ned, he was only 14 at the time. That was the whole point of brining up age. People were sayign Jon was an adult and Ned shoudl have told him. He was only 14 though.

Now sure this is a time period where 14 means more than todays 14, but still one can understand withholding that big of information from a 14 year old boy.

I wasn't really making a point about that, though. But I do agree with you.
