As someone said Ned was going to tell him next time they met.

As for Jon being an adult, people need to remember the difference between the books and tv show. In the books, they are much much younger. Like 12-15 year olds versus the 18-25 year olds the show portrays them as.

Not that much younger, isn't Robert's rebellion 17 years before season one on the show, and about 14 - 15 years before on the first book? And since then, I assume, about four years passed on both the show and the books.

OT - Also, factually accurate dialogue from the next episode. Beware the spoilers, folks:

Many of the characters may be 20 or so now, but when Jon last saw Ned, he was only 14 at the time. That was the whole point of brining up age. People were sayign Jon was an adult and Ned shoudl have told him. He was only 14 though.

Now sure this is a time period where 14 means more than todays 14, but still one can understand withholding that big of information from a 14 year old boy.
