"Will it support 240 frames per second? Great."
Pachter WTF are you on?
But yes I do expect PS5 will be able to play PS4 games.

If the PS5 launches Holiday 2019 the PS4 will still outsell the Wii.
March 2018 - 78m shipped (18m year)
March 2019 - 92m shipped (14m year)
Then we still have 8 months more of sales before the ps5 launches, and then all ps4 sales post-ps5. (PS3 sold 8m units after the PS4 released).
If PS5 releases 2019, PS4 will still sell over 105m.
It makes sense if they stay x86 that PS5 can play PS4 & PS4pro (enhanced) games, via backwards compatability.
Im just not sure it ll happend that early... my gut says 2020.

That should happend before 2020 (even if the PS5 launches in 2019) :p
By the holidays end, of 2019, PS4 will probably be 100m+ units.
I think going forward every system needs to be completely BC, I want to be able to play all my games I've purchased physically and digitally.

It's coming from a guy that thinks that Xbox One isn't successful in Japan because it didn't sell 1 million consoles YET (yeah he doesn't know that it didn't even hit 100k).
EDIT: For clarification; I talking about Pachter.

Agreed. If a console (PS2/PS3) from 2000 and 2006 can do it, there's just no excuse anymore.
So it's just a more beefy game machine rename from PS4 Pro ?
That's how you milk the cow Sonic, I mean Sony
They would have to fuck up pretty hard to not make it backwards compatible. The question is if they will bother to make the PS4 forward compatible.
spoiler: they won't because they're assholes
