Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Yooka-Laylee now entering testing on Switch & should have final date shortly after

Most of Yooka Laylee's momentum disappeared when the release was delayed six months. Any remaining interest was subsequently squashed with the lukewarm reviews. I think Yooka Laylee could have been very successful, but it needed to be released, first and foremost, on the Switch with support from Nintendo. I enjoyed playing it on the computer, but there were (and still are even after this patch) fundamental issues with the level designs and move mechanics. Why are there multiple ways to break glass, but only one method works in each situation?

Whatever Yooka Laylee is successful for the developers at least because it was well over-funded by kickstarter. It looks a great fit for the Switch and with the gameplay tweaks/improvements is probably better than the initial reviews have stated. I'd like the developer to be the new Rare producing great platform games and other fun games, perhaps a few kart racers etc.

Me too.

At this point I just want it to release so I don't feel like I was scammed out of my Kickstarter pledge, I barely have any interest in playing it anymore.

Are you at least going to play it, though?

Yeah what's the chances we get a physical copy before SMO releases?? Coz im thinking slim to none. Good luck competing with the GotY

I'll probably make an attempt, but if it's not immediately enjoyable then I'll just shelve it and move onto something else.

I see. I was never really planning on getting the game myself.

Feel like they've missed their opportunity with this one. Between the Nintendo version getting delayed, the lukewarm reviews, and the arrival of Mario Odyssey in October, its not going to sell anywhere near as well as it would have if it had released alongside the other versions.

Well Switch owners won't be able to play Knack 2 so that shouldn't be an issue.

If it's anything like the first game, Knack 2 won't even be Game of the Week. :P

Eh, better late than never. I'll still be getting it at some point.
