Just was thinking about the evoloution video game hardware over the years, and how I have at least had the chance to play and use each general form of hardware to see how things have changed over time. I know not everyone gets the same opportunities to try these things in life.

So, how many kinds of video game hardware have you gotten to at least try in your life?

Here are some general archetypes I have experienced in my gaming jouneys in life:

-Upright Arcade Cabinets
-Cocktail Arcade Cabinets
-Simulator Arcade Cabinets
-Desktops
-TV Consoles
-Handheld Consoles
-VR Headsets
-Laptops
-Smartphones/Tablets
-Hybrids

Maybe you have experienced some kinds of gaming hardware I haven't?

I played Tetris on a watch.

It was awesome. =]

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Let's see:
- Upright arcade cabinets (meh)
- Simulation racing cabinets (awesome)
- Tabletop arcade or cocktail cabinets (meh)
- Game & Watch (great at the time)
- Tamagotchi (meh)
- TV consoles (awesome)
- Desktops (great)
- Laptops (average)
- Handheld consoles (meh)
- Tablets (bad)
- Phones (crap)
- 3D shutter glasses (meh)
- VR headsets (awesome)
- CRT and LCD projector for gaming (awesome)
- DDR Dance mats (fun workout)
- Balance board snow boarding (great)
- Eye toy / PS Eye full body motion gaming (meh)
- Wii/Move/Dual shock/Aim/Light gun controller motion gaming (decent)
- Flight stick/keyboard+mouse/wheel/track pad/touch screen controls (from great to crap)
- Couch/Lan/Online multiplayer/Dial up direct connection (from great to meh)

Basically I've never tried Kinect nor multi monitor gaming setups.

PC, laptop, consoles, wii, handhelds, and switch.
Well, i really like to play in my bed, seems the best place to play. So anything that uses mouse and keyboard(that needs a table) i dont like.
So, I prefer controllers. Nowadays, I dont have a TV in my bedroom, so, ditch home consoles.
When Im laid on my bed, usually, keeping the hands together is not the best position. Also, the hands position limits where the screen will be in a handheld.
Switch is the best ergonomy i experienced. In my bed, tabletop mode, joycon without grip.

Err...

IBM compatible PC (stationary/laptop I count this as one)
Mac (stationary/laptop)
Commodore 64/128
Commodore Amiga
Atari ST
Sinclair ZX Spectrum
Arcade (standup/coctail/simulation/light I gun count this as one and that horrible VR thingy from the 90-ies)
Handhelds (hybrid is a stupid term so switch falls in this category)
TV-consoles (hybrid is a stupid term so switch falls in this category)
Game & Watch type modules (includes Nintendo, Tiger, Tamagochi etc)
Old school mobile phones
Smart phone
Tablet
All in one (yay Vectrex)

As a bonus to this I have even made some games of my own on the Commodore 128 so I introduce my bonus category:
Games I've made myself from scratch.

All of those. How else would I know which platforms are superior to all others?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

3 Handheld, TV console and whatever Wii U tried yo be.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

All of them except a tabletop arcade machine I think. I'm assuming any console that can be used both with a tv or portable is a hybrid. I don't have a Switch but have a Linx Vision and a few other handhelds with hdmi out.

Also have a tv and satellite/terrestrial boxes with built in games and played basic games many years ago on a programmable calculator. What does the Vectrex console count as? Had one of those which was a console with a built in screen so not a tv console and not a portable either.

I've played all sorts of the arcades over 20 years ago, from regular fighting games, to shooting and racing sims, and whatever. Satan's hallow was in the basement until a flood ruined it.

Also, Consoles, genesis, PS4, Dreamcast, etc. I own all the sega consoles beginning with the sega genesis, (nothing older) and no game gear. I also own all playstation consoles, and double dipped for PS4 Pro.

I also have a gaming PC with a Ryzen 7 1800x and a GTX 1080 Ti FTW3, that I'm using now. I think that's it.. Not going to bother with those old tiger electronics, and similar things.
