It definitely could, because like everyone else is saying it's on a more popular system. When Hyrule Warriors released, though, for a lot of us it was a breath of fresh air. Nintendo home consoles never got musou games, and the Zelda aesthetic gave it more immediacy to a Wii U base that was starved for...a lot of things, really, but anything Nintendo that wasn't a party game or remake. That helped the attach rate.

Fire Emblem seems to be on a hot streak so maybe it can catch on. There's gotta be Switch owners who never heard of Hyrule Warriors and thus will look at this as a fresh experience.

umm... Wii? It had Samurai Warriors 3, as an exclusive even! PS3 eventually got a port for Japan, but elsewhere it's still a full Wii exclusive!

You're right, I completely scuffed that one.  SW3 bombed in the West though so the style still seemed new to many Nintendo gamers.

Based off things going the way they are this year... nope.

Aside from needing to get more Switch systems out there, I don't think the FE audience will gravitate to this game. The developer coming out and announcing how limited the game's character pool will be in terms of potential characters is similar to Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, on paper it makes sense to use the best selling and most popular games, but I think the FE fanbase having seen SO many games with those sets of characters or seen them plastered into so many games are not going to rush to such a game.

This seems like a Nintendo or Intelligent Systems thing with FE because the variety of sources used in Hyrule Warriors over time and the Dragon Quest games seems like the developers are more willing to experiment which not limiting their character pool to just three titles would allow, especially given the recent character polls for FE Heroes showed the most popular characters for either gender (Ike and Lyn) are not even in those games.

But I will digress, I hope it does well, but unlike Hyrule Warriors or the DQ Heroes games, this feels like less love is being paid to the overall property and in cases like that, while it will draw the hardcore Dynasty Warriors fan, average fans and those of the FE franchise might not buy.

Is Tharja in it? I reckon she could raise a lot of people's interest. :P

If by some impossible circumstance Tharja doesn't make it...

I'll bet all the lint in my pocket this one does.

OT: Based on what I was thinking(same as op's), I don't think so.  After looking at the treehouse footage, FE: Warriors looks like it's in beta.  The UI is generic and the animations are a bit awkward and choppy - from character movements to enemy respawns.  It's possible the footage wasn't the latest in development, but at this point leading up to Hyrule Warriors, the game looked very much like it was complete.  I'm worried this was a rush job, as it doesn't have close to the polish of HW, and I just don't think the desire for this game is really there.

I would very surprised if Fire Emblem Warriors outsold Hyrule Warriors. While it's true the former will have a larger install base, I can't see this being the type of game that will sell continuously over time, so it's LTD will likely be impacted more by its install base at launch rather than the end of the Switch's life cycle.

I do expect Fire Emblem to do better in Japan...but HW was a big sales surprise in the West as I recall. I imagine that will be too big of a hurdle for FE.

I was thinking of that one too, but didn't know her name.

Wouldn't surprise me, Tecmo is no stranger to fan service...

As much as I am excited for this game, I don't think FE Warriors will pass HW in sales. Despite emerging as a popular IP throughout this generation, the franchise is still not quite in the levels of Zelda in terms of popularity. I think the FE motif will fit better in Musou due to the variety of warriors Team Ninja and IS can access. Still, they'll have to show more to convince more people about this game. Hopefully it'll have a Direct like HW did.

No, purely due to the Zelda IP being much bigger and much more recognizable than Fire Emblem. Let's also not forget that there is more competition for the gamers money on Switch as there is a lot more choice than that of the Wii U.

Oi, Fire Emblem gets a few decent numbers sales wise and now its supposed to outsell Zelda games? Sakurai, this is what you've created by making Super Fire Emblem Smash Bros. You encouraged this base too much

Well, at least in Japan, yeah.  Latest FE games have outsold the latest Zeldas there.

Personally, FE:W hasn't done anything to excite me, and I think a lot of FE fans feel the same based on what we've seen.  I chalk it up to poor presentation, something Hyrule Warriors did absolutely right.  The bland look won't tell the whole sales story but I believe it will contribute; if FE:W had the same love poured into that HW did, I don't see why it couldn't match or even outsell HW with it's weak Wii U install.

It won't even outsell Bayonetta 2.

So less than 800k you reckon?

Well...

Zelda vs FE no...

Wii U vs Switch yes.

But I am not sure... probably it would have sold better if this was out after the Main FE on Switch.

Switch!!!
