Wait.... there were some expecting an open world game to run at 60fps?

Why?

To troll and flame saying it can't. Because no one with little background on the games released would expect this.

Yeah, I had a reeeeeally hard time believing the PS4 Pro could pull off what it looked like they were claiming it would during the E3 presentation. That's not to say that it's a weak console, but rather than a game of that style would require some top tier hardware to run at native 4k and with decent frame rates.

Gotta say my interest in this one has certainly dropped though. I thought this might be the console world's "Crysis" experience in regards to visuals... Still, hopefully it'll be fun; I'm just anxious for a truly beautiful 4k game to finally make its way to consoles so I can get some proper use out of my TV lol

the game is gorgeous, and will show at 4k using tricks... what part of it made the game look bad or what secret juice were you hoping to be used to make it gorgeous, ultra 4k60fps open world?

I'm sure the game will still look great by most standards, I just thought perhaps they could use the skyline to really limit how much would have to be rendered at any given moment (similar tactics have allowed for some stunning visuals recently, such as The Order or the upcoming Forza). I must admit I've never heard of "temporal injections" which, just like "dynamic" 4k, is just a cool name for some method used to fake the appearance of 4k whenever possible.

Like I said though, I was very skeptical that the PS4 Pro could pull off the visuals they seemed to be implying at E3, not because it's weak or anything but because any hardware in that price range has absolutely no business attempting visuals like that lol... that didn't stop me from hoping, though.

A big part of the appeal to me for Spiderman (unlike most games) was that it looked like it would feature rather stunning visuals. It reaaaally looks like a game that should be running at higher than 30fps, though, so that (coupled with the limited 4k) has definitely lowered my interest in a very crowded game market. Honestly, while they say they couldn't have pulled off 1080p at 60fps (that seems rather unacceptable to me), they'd probably have been better served pushing for that or something close over this quasi, occasionally 4kish look.

Is this 60fps REALLY that big of a deal? I mean I guess I just can't see why it is so important to some people. From what they showed of Spiderman it looks greats, was running crisp and smooth with no issues. What big difference would 60fps have made that 30fps are seeming just considered unacceptable or bad?

Sorry I am not super savy when it comes to the 30/60fps arguments. If a game looks, great, runs great and plays great then I have issues with it what so ever.

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

The games they showed at the reveal still look as good or even better so I don't know what you are saying.

And on the 1080p60fps they answered that, the customers showed more value on 4k than on 60fps and they aren't going to waste resources making an option that won't generate profit.
