Forums - Gaming Discussion - Differences between PS4 Pro and XbOX reveal.

Midgen hardware refreshes are

Awesome, I gladly pay aga... 24 14.91%

Ok for those who want it 63 39.13%

Bad for putting for strai... 8 4.97%

Bad for creating different tiers of gamers 11 6.83%

Bad (potentially) for online gaming 1 0.62%

Pointless, waste of time and effort 34 21.12%

Good to keep game engine advancements going 17 10.56%

Good for PC games, more 4K focus 3 1.86%

Total:161

Perhaps it's just my imagination, yet the reception of the fanbases seems completely different?

When the pro was revealed, a lot of people weren't keen on mid gen refreshes. Splitting the userbase, more work for game developers, most won't put a lot of effort in pro versions, paying twice to play the same games, it's just the same game in higher res. Now the XbOX is announced, none of those concerns anymore. Heck some people are even asking for Scorpio exclusives, screw the existing userbase! All talk atm seems to be how truly true 4k the X can render its highest quality pixels.

Microsoft are marketing geniuses directing all the talk towards a premium machine with a premium experience. Reality is a lot of 3rd party devs don't spend much time on pro enhancements and new games still come out with hardly any boosts.

The difference is ofcourse that the upgrade from XBox One to XbOX is much greater than from ps4 to pro, leapfrogging both ps4 consoles. So do all concerns about how well the XbOX will be utilized and what it means for game development etc fade away because it beats the ps4?

Because the Pro reveal was pretty boring to watch while the Xbox One X has been hyped up since last year and Xbox fans are willing to shell in another $500/

Would help if the people you're referring to weren't anonymous. That way, we'd be able to put these questions to them directly...

I think that MS prepared XbOX launch way better than Sony with the Pro. They already have over 60 or maybe even 70 confirmed games which will be enhanced on the new console. Sony had around 15-20 as far as I remember

With the PS4 theres like

2.6m PS4pro's
57.8m PS4/PS4slim's.
= total of 60.4m units

Devs arnt putting much effort into patch's for the Pro version.
I think devs are going to put even less effort into the xbox one x versions.

Alot of talk about developers going for Parity between PS4pro & Xbox one X too.

That and the potential 100-150$ price differnce. Im doubtfull of how well it ll end up selling.

I think it depends on sales. If XbOX sells PS4Pro numbers then developers will support it in some way. Also we can expect better support for Pro now because there will be more mid-gen consoles sold.

I'm terrible with names and can hardly remember the names of my relatives!

I was one of those concerned with the extra strain on development for games with multiple hardware profiles, and it seems that 'enhanced for pro' omn the box doesn't mean a whole lot in practice. That said, I did buy a pro, needed a second machine anyway (kids use the old one), and I'm enjoying the sharper resolution in VR (don't have a 4K tv) Yet even in VR pro enhancements are sparse.

maybe because the PS4 pro is not so powerful?

^think this is upto date or atleast close to the right number.

Total number of listed games: 329

PS4pro games with enhancements are over 300..... not sure where you got the 15-20 number from.

Microsoft are just doing a much better job with marketing the Xbox One X.
