Based on anecdotal evidence and discussion on gaming forums I've come to an interesting conclusion when it comes to the upcoming KH 3. Square Enix has lost their drive, and are likely to release a game that will not sell beyond a couple million copies.... the game has lost a significant amount of it's fan base since it's peak in 2006.
IS KH3 going to flop? Is it a case of way too late? Duke nuke 2.0????
Square took an incredible 11 years to release FF V XIII on a console a generation ahead of the one the game was originally announced for. The game pales in comparison to the likes of other open world ip like Zelda, Horizon, and GTA , and some others. The game received some criticism but due to the launch in the holidays and the rebranding of the game as FF XV, The game still ended up being successful( despite selling less than every other FF mainline experience since FF VII). Now kingdom hearts faces a similar pródigamente..... except the game is not a rebrand.
KH 3 Was teased in 2006...... we are now at 2017, and the game is being considered for release in around 3 years time.....
aka 14 years of development.... or since its original tease.....
the collections have released and they sold okay, but even with the boost on being on the most pop console since the ps2, these re releases have failed to go past 2 million units.....
a lot lot of people I knew were hyped for KH 3 since 06/07/08/09/10 lost hype and are older they aren't the same market who's going to buy the game ahymore.... some are still there( myself and other core gamers), but kingdom hearts which was considered a franchise to rival Final fantasy in popularity has fallen off tremendously....
because kh 3 is still on dev world..... and has been since 2006
what do do uguys think?
