Forums - General Discussion - Apple iMac Pro Announced Starting At Just $4999

"At just 4999$" ahah :)
The baby looks amazing tho... I can definitely imagine myself playing Minecraft on the 18 core configuration!

Around the Network

New 18 core Intel Xeon CPU (36 cpu threads)
New AMD Vega 11 Teraflop GPU (able to do 22 Teraflops half precession)
128 GB ECC memory
4 TB SSD

Sounds like a beast... but then again for 5,000$ you should kinda expect to get something kickarse.

So, we're traveling back to the early 80's where pcs cost almost more than a year of rent, great!

You pay at least 1000$ extra for that apple logo. Apple knows that some people are willing to pay this much for a laptop, so they're making it as expensive as possible.

Thats 13 PS4 Pros you can buy with it

That's 54.6 TFLOPS of Single precision calaculations.

109.2 TFLOPS of Half precision.

And, just because we already went this far, 104 Core CPU.

I do think the stuff they announced is cool, but I have never been interested in the 300% Apple tax.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

Every time Apple or one of these similar companies announces something new, it remind me of this:

better look for a gaming pc, you can find beter cost beneffit.

So does it have an Intel I9, 32GB of DDR4 RAM a 2TB SSD and 2 GTX1080 and a 4k screen or something. Combined with nitrogen cooling. Because damn that's what I could buy with $5.000 and still have plenty to spend on games.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Obviously this isn't machine for everyday home use. I wonder what's exactly in it apart from vaguely announced 8-core Xeon CPU, Radeon Vega GPU, 32GB ECC RAM and a 1TB SSD + 5k display. It might not be as overpriced as people think it is, but who am I kidding ... still curious though.

The display alone costs around $2000.
