Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Japan Goes Switch Crazy; Supply Starved Consumers Line Up For Lottery Chance To Buy A Switch.

As Japanese Switch stock has shrunk to the 27,000 range the last few weeks, desperation for the systems has hit crazy levels with people lining up just to get "lottery tickets" given out by stores to have a chance at buying a Nintendo Switch.

Today photographs were taken of people literally lining up around the block to enter a lottery for the mere chance to purchase a Switch.

This first location had a grand total of 37 units to sell.

Looks like Japan has chosen its new top system. Sorry to everyone else. Splatoon 2 is going to be crazy.

Sweet Jesus, Nintendo! I don't care what you have to do to get those parts you need to make those systems, just do it! Every second that passes is another dollar left on the table!!!

! Holy shit. That's great news. As an aside: I can't imagine doing this for anything other than food or water to stave off death. I did it once, for GTA IV, midnight launch, and that was enough. At least these people are sensible enough to not be rolling around on the ground/laying face-down in filth.

Did this ever happen with the DS or Wii?

It was probably worse for the DS, that was madness. Wii had a strong initial push but in actuality wasn't *that* popular in Japan, it only sold about 12 million systems, which is way below the Famicom, Super Famicom, 3DS, DS, Game Boy, etc. The Sony PSP outsold the Wii in Japan.

Bloody hell, get your supply chain sorted Nintendo.

Oh FUCK!

Nintendo! Look at what you are doing!!!!!!

Pocky Lover Boy!

It's kind of weird. Because here, everyone compares the Switch to the Wii in terms of popularity, sales, and demand. But you go across the Pacifiic and it's the DS that makes the most sense to compare.

It's weird in general because the DS destroyed the Wii in sales in a lot of countries.

The Power of Monster Hunter ! I hope Nintendo manages to increase their production even if recent news said they had to fight with Smartphone manufacturers to get key components for the Switch...
