It was probably worse for the DS, that was madness. Wii had a strong initial push but in actuality wasn't *that* popular in Japan, it only sold about 12 million systems, which is way below the Famicom, Super Famicom, 3DS, DS, Game Boy, etc. The Sony PSP outsold the Wii in Japan.
