Alcohol is very healthy for you. It lowers stress, improves sex, and is great for creativity. It has been scientifically proven that a bit of alcohol each day is good for your cardiovascular system and mental health, it has increases your IQ. Plus it makes for great social situations, as it melts people's uptight inhibitions away.

I've heard of a glass of wine with dinner being good for your heart. Some of those other claims?

That feeling when you realize this forum is full of children :/

I haven't heard of anyone who doesn't, adults at least, maybe in countries where it is banned, like Saudi Arabia.

I am 24 and from a state/country that loves to drink, especially people my age. But I am doing just fine without it :). My family members on the other hand....

Rarely nowadays, and only one drink for the taste as I don't like feeling anything close to a hangover the next day or after a few hours already. Those days are long gone.

I used to drink a lot with friends in my twenties. We used to finish a couple bottles of wine between us while watching a movie, or go out in the weekend to get wasted. I don't understand how you can get physically addicted to alcohol though. It seems I've tried enough but outside social drinking, getting drunk by myself has never been appealing in the slightest. I much rather got stoned and played video games instead.

Nowadays my 'vices' are coffee and peanut butter chocolate chip frozen yogurt. And lots of tea.

I think most who get addicted to it are those who drink to "forget" their problems and stuff like that. The brain seems to love this effect to let you get addicted to it.

That's pshychological addiction though.

I've definitely abused alcohol in the past, but luckily never got dependent on it. Rather the opposite, hangovers won out over feeling good. Nowadays my brain is more worried about what comes after than the pleasure from getting drunk. One drink once in a while still tastes great anyway, yet when I start feeling any effects I rather not have a second drink.

I guess if you start drinking to forget you force your body to adapt to being in that state all the time and make it hard to go back. Alternating getting drunk or stoned apparently was the way to avoid addiction.

Uhhhh.....Being addicted to anything is always 100% psychological.....It's never physical... It's always in your head.

Christ, this ain't rocket science ladies and gents.

I hear I get more talkative when I drink, but that and losing my balance are the only differences I've personally noticed. Oh, and feeling really bad if I take too much. Drinking doesn't seem to affect my thought process or state of mind almost at all. Mind you, when I said 'drunk', I mean like properly drunk, not a bit tipsy or anything. Getting a bit tipsy has the benefits you mentioned in moderation, but getting beyond that doesn't seem to have any further benefits in my opinion.

Whenever I see drunk people, I can't help noticing little things that seem really ridiculous to someone who's sober. It's usually nothing major, but still something I would call more or less ridiculous or stupid. Obviously it doesn't happen with everyone, but I see it really often when people get drunk. That confidence you're talking about sure has an effect. Thus when you're drunk, you obviously don't think of stuff you (or even others) do as stupid.

That seems a bit strange... you make it sound that there would be nothing wrong if you example were drunk and drove a car :P

Well, the effect could be subjective, I suppose. Also, I suppose driving sort of goes more along the line of losing my balance more easily. It's not really related to my thought process or even necessarily state of mind, it probably has more to do with my senses and such. I wouldn't ever go driving while drunk, even if I've taken only a little bit. But my thinking capabilities don't seem to be affected very much by alcohol (there's an effect for sure but it doesn't seem very big, everything considered).

I drink usually on weekend at a party like around 350 ml or so

Currently last time I had a drink was about a month ago but will this Friday likely some beers and such : )

Yep. Didn't start until I was 21 and I rarely get drunk, but it's nice to get buzzed before sex or at a party.

(Formerly RCTjunkie)

I haven't drank alcohol in at least a year, and even then I stopped consuming lots of alcohols after my early 20s.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

I've only drank it a few times, only because I found a drink in the last months of Japan that I was okay with, and only has one drink per drinking party.

Other than that, I don't drink. I decided at a young age I wouldn't want to, and 99% stick to it.
