You said "all new hardware", so it's your argument that is screwed, not mine. You can't enter a discussion about consoles and then change your mind that you were talking about anything but consoles.
Here, have another one.

So you don't consider other tech products hardware? Yes I exaggerated for effect but I stand by what I meant. That new hardware these days seem to have supply issues. Also I am talking about consoles as well, and things that I consume for gaming.
Add: But I don't just game on these pesky consoles anymore, I do also game on other devices, like Smartphones, retroboxes and have accessories that go with games that sell out. Overall things that have had supply issues.

In the context of a video game based website the word hardware is pretty much always used to refer to gaming hardware. It's like if I said Shaq was not the all time best center on a basketball forum, and when someone pressed me to name who was better I said Wayne Gretzky. Or if I said Pokemon is not the best selling RPG franchise, and when someone asked me to name one that sold better, I said D&D. In a gaming forum, it will naturally be assumed that you're using words in the context of gaming.
I worked at an electronics company from the launch of the Kinect through the PS4. Between the Kinect, Move, 3DS, Vita, Wii U, XBox One, and PS4, none of those products had supply issues beyond 3 months. PS4 may have come close. So even as an exaggeration that doesn't work, because you couldn't even use "most" or even "many" accurately.
But... if you want to insist that you meant all hardware, your argument gets much worse. Cause there's a lot of new hardware man. There are controllers, keyboards, PC controllers, new laptops, new tvs, new cameras, headphones, dishwashers, vacuums, speakers, new ereaders and such coming out every day. During my time working at Best Buy, there must have been hundreds of new pieces of hardware launched... which is why you really should be specific.
Of all of that hardware, I can only recall three shortages that lasted beyond three months. The iPad 2, Ipad Mini, and the leap pad. That's about it. Long term shortages are incredibly rare in the electronics business. I would be willing to bet my life on the fact that it happens to less than 10% of new hardware. If my life wasn't on the line, I'd probably guess that its less than 1% of new hardware.
So, whichever way you want to say you meant it, the statement doesn't hold up.
