Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Ultra Street Fighter II Is The No.1 Selling Game On Amazon Right Now

I don't think it'll last long, but yeah, those who wanted the game were going to get it no matter what the reviews said. I like SFII, I know I'll get SFII gameplay, so when I get a Switch I'll probably get it.

Like I said in the other thread, the game is review-proof. People know what they're getting.

USFII is kind of like Switch on a smaller scale. Its appeal is still outside the comprehension of the hardcore gaming enthusiast. Forum posters like us think, "oh it's only three bucks on PS3 or X360" or "it's a port of a 26-year-old game."

What we fail to understand is that millions of people never owned a PS3 or X360, and many of them are excited about playing the final version of an iconic game that captured their imaginations as kids.

We've been under the spell of the "AAA" gaming machine for too long.

There is a parallel with the original rise of consoles against computers (in the UK at least). £2-£5 Commodore 64 games would retail for £40 on the NES/Master System. It was a small price to pay to guarantee the game would actually load (and instantly too), with dedicated controls, possible local multiplayer options and improved portability.

Nov 2016 - NES outsells PS1 (JP)

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

This is selling because Super Street Fighter II Turbo is easy to learn and pickup, unlike other fighting games *cough* almost anything not made by Netherrealm *cough*.

I would bet "hardcore" gamers are buying this no problem.

Bought Disgaea 5 instead.

You nailed it. That's why I hate when people on foruns claim that games like 1-2-Switch and Skylanders are trash. I mean, is our vision soooo limited? Can't we see that different games appeal to different people? I hope more people come to realize this.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I don't have a Switch but got the game. Going to do for it what I did for Xbox,PSP,PS3 and Wii U. Build a library before I have the system. So I have plenty to play when I do get it.

First of all, I don't know why SF2 would be put into the categorey of a 1,2 Switch or Skylanders to begin with, SF2 is one of the greatest, most influential games ever made full stop, those other two games don't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath.

Secondly, it's more like sometimes you just want a Big Mac + fries and a Coke. I don't need Yelp! to tell me the corner McDonalds doesn't have a wine menu and has poor service .... I don't give a shit. I want what I want and I've had it before. Just shut up and gimme my burger.

SF2 is the gaming equivalent of comfort food, no uppity hipster reviewer is gonna change that.

If people haven't realized it then, especially during the Wii/DS era where Wii Sports, Brain Age, Cooking Mama, and Wii Fit (which weren't bad games btw, for the most part) were all the rage, it would be funny to see people finally realize it now.

Video games, like any media, can be attractive for a variety of audiences due to the variety of games. Retro, casual, hardcore, competitive, online, single player, parties, etc.

i do fine it interesting seeing USFII, despite being mix of an enhanced port with the remix coinciding with the retro and a new mode and two new clones, find its way in the charts like that on Amazon, which is basically the biggest marketplace in the world right now.

Also stating the obvious so so WHAT if it's on the PS3/360?

Can you put a PS3 + LCD display in your backpack and play it anywhere? Can you pick it up and keep playing as you go up to your bedroom?

No ... you can't. So give it a fucking rest with the "yeah but it's on ..." .... as far as I know it's not on any easily portable platform actually. The original PS3/360 release does not have the original sprite/music mode either.
