Did I? I never actually played that one, but it's an easy mistake to make, they look very similar.

Well, here's some of the first game; not the best quality captures, but better looking than the 3DS MH games in my book.

Funny how you need to use one of the most expensive games ever done and the best looking game of Dreamcast to make your point about how MHXX is below Dreamcast standars. Not forced at all.

I said there are Dreamcast games that look better than 3DS Monster Hunter. I showed pictures from a Dreamcast game. Pretty straightforward.

Not from a Dreamcast game but from THE Dreamcast game, a technological miracle.

Still a Dreamcast game though. Heck, throw the sequel in too, make it a pair.

And still doesn't come even close to the work of animation in MHXX

Now what about any other game outside THE game?

There is far more to graphics than just animation.

Shenmue 1 and 2 makes two games. But there shouldn't be ANY. The fact that we're even comparing it to games released on 1998 console hardware is a testiment to how poor 3DS MH looks.

Except it looks really good for the hardware inside the tiny handheld, the machine has limitations, 3DS has never been comparable with ps3 or similar, so I don't know what is your point here at all, but, in any case, outside the obvious limitations on resolution MHXX looks definitely better than the average Dreamcast games and you gotta be blind to not see that.

That was kinda my point; 3DS is just too limited to do the series justice. Whether its Nintendo's fault, or Capcom's, or both, the end result is that it just looks really horrible by modern standards.

Rigth now is like 80% market share  own by Nintendo in Japan, with this games that number will rise, why would you think otherwise?

I think it's a little too early to be predicting things like that. Especially when a system is new. Plus dominating the Japanese market isn't much to brag about. This isn't 5-10 years ago. The console market in Japan is pitiful compared to NA and Europe. Good to see Switch doing well but ps4's heavy hitters aren't coming out til fall/winter of this year and then you have RD 2 in the spring. It'll be interesting

Except Switch is not just a console it's a portable as well and 3DS dominating Japan equals to 23m units sold so far so yes it is something to brag about
especially as a number like that has an influence over Japanese developers. PS4 had a heavy hitter come out the week Switch launched in HZD did you forget about that as well as Nier the following week and neither did anything to hamper the Switch which also has it's own heavy hitters out this year as well.

First 2 images: Only 1 shadow (no environment or self shadows), low polygon counts, low res textures, no light sources.
3rd iamge: CGI cut scene. Doesn't count.

Those in game rendered images do not look better than:

Shenmue has better textures, better image quality, and overall just looks cleaner and more polished.

I still have both Shenmue games the textures aren't better than what you have in MHXX tbh in fact they may even be better in MH it's just the lower resolution, the latter not only has better animations but use of tech like shadows, lighting etc even when you compare to Generations which is the earlier version of Double X. Overall MH just looks better even though Shenmue did well for its gen.
