I don't think "ownership" tells us that much, as the owner isn't always the one with the most product interaction.

I also have zero faith in the income thing. Who did they survey? Where did they live? California? New York? Mississippi? Eh.

What people shouldn't forget with "I always hear so many kids over voice chat" is that kids probably use it more often that 40 years old and 40 years old let their kids play as well but they are obviously the owner.

Same with older siblings who own an Xbox and let their young brothers and sisters play from time to time.

I don't believe this survey at all. Sure my Mom "owned" a NES and a SNES and a PS1, but she never once touched it...

The primary gamer was a 0-12 year old, ie me. But according to this survey, they don't exist. Consoles and games bought with birthday money, I count as my own purchase as I do now that I am older. Otherwise the ownership would be multiple people in various proportions...

And then the audacity to claim 33 is average age of gamer, and most gamers are 25-44 years old when a significant proportion is probably just parents that don't play.

Its like i thought!

This is just a survey done with just 2k of people. *Shrugs I thought this was about all of the xbox one owners in the states. I don't really trust any surveys or the results. I'm just very skeptical in nature.

You're too kind. Like any other poll with such a small a sample size, this is meaningless.

If the sample is representative, then 2,000 people is a perfectly fine sample size.

I might be wrong but from what I have been taught, 2000 respondents is a perfectly fine sample size for it to be representative of the Xbox player base. It's not about the percentage of the total population.
But I might be wrong, what do I know?

I'm calling bullshit on the 75 thousand a year income... total and utter bullshit lol.

The amount of 12yo playing FPS online multiplayers contradict this.

Vocal minority.

Suprising number of women on Xbox though. Most women I meet in real life think my gaming is stupid.

I've been playing on Xbox Live since 2003 and every single online game, the males outnumber the females 100/1, easily. Even today, I hardly run into a girl on COD. I don't know how the fuck Microsoft got these numbers but I suspect that people weren't very truthful.

2,000 is a sufficient number to get results that are representative of reality. What's much more important than the number of people surveyed is the methodology.

I'm not very learned on the topic of surveys in general, and likely assume too much.  However, some of these stats look suspect to me. I'm quite sure that singles in the U.S. outnumber married/common-law couples, yet according to this survey, XB1 owners are almost five times more likely to be married than single. Also, I highly doubt that 0% is representative of reality when it comes to XB1 owners living on campus. Then there's the 42% female player stat. That one really sticks out.
