Probably the same place he went when he was claiming BOTW wouldn't release on Wii U.

Honestly, that is amazing.

But I bet 1-2 Switch became the second million seller, I mean it was close in march and another 28 days (maybe 29) I could see it pass 1 million

This should be taken as a sign of how much the Wii U sucked. Clearly, people want Mario Kart 8. But the Wii U... nope.

I would agree if not for the fact that GTA 5, TLOU etc. did so well. Clearly, for whatever reason, people aren't capable of NOT buying the same thing twice.

I'm one of those people that, unless you're emotionally or physically harming someone else, thinks that you should be able to do whatever it is that you enjoy. But for ME? I don't enjoy ports. I don't like them. I don't support them. I like new games and I would rather these studios focus on things like BOTW and Mario Odyssey and stop wasting resources on games I already played into the ground.

Usually ports are not done by the main teams. They are outsourced and cost a fraction of the time/money a new game does.

Thus when a port does well, such as those you listed and Mario Kart in this example, its good for you. Nintendo now has a shit ton of free money basically to use for their big IP's like BotW and Odyssey.

So as for their RESOURCES. The main developers are working NEW games, and are also getting bigger budgets due to the success of the ports.

Look at Wind Waker HD, or Twilight Princess HD.

Neither one took really any resources from BotW. It had second tier developers doing it. Maybe Aounuma stopped by once in a blue moon, but otherwise he was doing the new main zelda the whole time. And you can bet the success of the two HD remakes helped BotW get a bigger budget

It is when you compare mk8 debut of 1.2mil shipped+digital first 2 days with a free game purchase

Less so when you realize MK8 was a Wii U game which means everything in context.

I forgot about the free game thing, though. Damn, Nintendo was really trying there.

Yep, when it didnt work.. that's when I think they just thought to themselves, it's over.

Just releasing enough games to support the system until the Switch would arrive.
