Yeah mate, it's definetely a system seller, and not bought because their isn't anything else.

It's propestrous to claim that until now the only thing worth buying on the switch is zelda.

No, is not. Maybe for you. But there is now 2 games in a road to sell 1M each. So you are wrong anyway

Super Monkey Ball was a pretty damn good game and deserved 1m+ sales.  It was good for them to do it at launch though because there were only a few other must haves on the GC launch like Rogue Squadron 2 and Luigi's Mansion.  I think it would have probably sold less if it didn't go with launch.  Super Monkey Ball 2 did a little better in sales but barely and the appex of Monkey sales came with the Wii version (5x the userbase) but only went up by .7 million in sales though.  Rouge Squadron 3 on GC did much worse than 2.

Bassically I'm saying sometimes its good to have a decent or good game out at launch because there isn't much around at the time.  Not taking anything away from Bomberman.  I'm sure it's a decent game but it wouldn't have sold as fast if it didn't release during launch.

How many physical game releases have their been though?  I assume less than 10.  That is a pretty low number but it should be 20+ by the holiday season or so.

Not sure why physical release is the barometer for games, but going from the Nintendo website, we have,

BotW, Bomberman, 1-2 Switch, Binding of Issac, Just Dance, Lego City Undercover, Puyo Puyo Tetris, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

So that makes 8. All but Bomberman and 1-2 are pretty much universally well regarded.

Indie games are good and sometimes way better than what some major developers put out but I don't give a shit about how many digital titles there are sometimes.  Sometimes for me physical is all that matters.  The reason being is you can find most indie titles on Xbox, PS, and Nintendo eshops.  I still prefer having a cart or disc.

Okay well if we're to completely ignore digital games for some reason, then I guess we're just left with one of the best racing games of all time and what will probably be 2017's GotY for many major outlets. Along with a handful of other good games.

A game being digital-only shouldn't be inmediately correlated with being indie developed or not, though. Sometimes, big companies like Ubisoft create digital-only games, such as Valiant Hearts, and sometimes, indie developers like Edmun McMillen create indie games like Binding of Isaac that find their way onto physical versions.

Only wanting physical is a respectable preference, for sure, but it isn't the bar to determine how small or big some games can be (regardless of their indie status, actually).

Maybe kinda reminscent of the N64 launch ...

I believe Mario 64, Wave Race 64, Star Wars: SOTE, Mario Kart 64, and Turok: Dinosaur Hunter I believe all were million sellers (5 in the first 5-6 months) and Killer Instinct Gold was not far off either at over 800k sold.

I can't think of a single digital-only game which significantly boosted the sales of a console. Physical releases will have the biggest priority for console buyers and right now Switch has very little to offer on that aspect, so no wonder MK8D does so well. It is actually kinda sad we have to include physical releases of indie-games to make the Switch line-up look good.

It's Mario Kart. It would do well no matter what.

Yea, I have a physical bias.  I know all those scenarios happen and have discs of games that were digital first and made it to physical on Wii U.  I have bought a lot of eshop games on 3DS and a decent amount on Wii U.  I also took part in 2 of the humble bundles deals that Nintendo offered awhile back.  Having digital titles is nice and very convenient.  I just prefer having physical.

Yeah, I said wanting physical is a respectable reference. I was only pointing out that you seemed to atribute digital-only to indies in your post.

Quality > Quantity?

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.
