Where did you read that? They announced sold through was 53.4 million by 1/1/17. There were really that many units on shelves?

I assume OP isn't talking sold to consumers, as he quotes a shipment forecast. 60m sold to consumers isn't up for debate, that would mean the ps4 sold 7 million units since January 1st.

Well, according to Sony, it's still tracking ahead of PS2 sales. I figure it's not gonna do 157 million lifetime, but 125 - 130 million is seeming more and more likely with each passing year. Sony basically has all the major third party releases this year on lockdown, along with the potential for 1 or 2 of their announced AAA titles to release.
