I find it a bit strange if I'm honest that a remaster or deluxe edition can score that much higher than the previous release of effectively the same software.

Although... on the flip side of things, if Uncharted 1/2/3 had come to the Vita running in Higher resolutions than their Ps3 versions along with bonus dlc... that would have scored higher because of the technical achievement of bringing a home console game from just 3 years ago out on a handheld.... running better and with more content.

Still though... 94% now, that is fantastic to see.

edit - Took a quick look online just to see if the DLC being added from Mario Kart 8 Wii U edition could be of such value to cause an increase in % rating over the original release of the game, but no... it's around €14 worth of dlc from what I can find online.

You really shouldn't judge the Mario Kart 8's DLC by it's price.

I think everyone can agree that Mario Kart's DLC price was the most insane deal in all of DLC every created, besides Witcher 3's BLood and Wine expansion.

It's rediculous the amount of content that the DLC came. I mean you got 16 brand new courses for only $12. Not to mention more characters, carts, ect. But that is less than $1 for each new course. People would have easily paid double for that. Heck, I expected probably $20 for each pack of 8 new courses, so $40 for what cost only $12. That is what I've come to expect from all other dlc in the industry at least. The $12 was an INSANE DEAL.

Awesome to hear, can't wait to get my hands on the game next week, I never had a Wii-U so it's going to be all new content for me :)

And have I've noticed that with Nintendo and DLC they seem to be not trying to fleece their customers too much, have yet to see what it includes but the breath of the wild season pass is just 20quid as well, and really any fears of content removed from that game to repackage as dlc... I mean I'm over 150hours in the base game now so I think value for money they've done a great job at offering a better deal than most devs out there.

So far Nintendo has done DLC pretty well. THere are a couple examples of overpriced DLC.  Fire Emblem being one that comes to mind.

But for the  most part at worst their DLC if fairly priced. But many times it's a good deal.

I would agree that Nintendo's DLC track record is mixed but the Mario Kart 8 DLC was a superb deal. They also offered a few free updates, such as the 200 cc.

Bullshit, this shows Mario Kart Deluxe is the best Mario Kart ever and that the poor Battle Mode limited the score of MK8.

Yeah right , one new mode will make à 6 points différence considering no définitive version including DLC ever had a higher score.

It's not "one new mode," it's closer to "half of the Mario Kart experience," and it encompases 5 different game modes.

One new mode that is a pretty big deal as it can be even more fun than the main mode, a 50% more of tracks than when MK8 was released (the 88 of that game didn't counted the awesome DLC), more characters, a jump from 720p to 1080p and on top of that this one has the improvement of being portable, which is quite impressive and very fitting for this game.

48 tracks instead of 32
Resolution increased to 1080p
Playable in portable mode
Runs perfectly without technical problems in both modes
8 New Battle Tracks (Previous had none)
5 Battle Modes

It's definitely enough to warrant an increase of a few points, especially given it was the lack of the battle tracks and such that kept the score lower before.

Really, name a better kart racer than this; it's the best yet in the franchise and genre.

Now let's wait for the 5/10 Jim Sterling is gonna give it and the consequent "but 5 is a great score!"
